Found another stand on the property

I would cut the bottom off then just so it's no longer climb able. Incase the owner remembers its there n wants to come back to hunt

He’s been dead about 15 years, he was the only person outside the family that was allowed to hunt this property for the last 40 or so years.
It’s been in the family for 5 generations our children (mine and my wifes) are the 6th. Counting my friend who I let squirrel hunt the property today there are only three of us that have hunted this property since then and we just started this past season.

I once found a treestand on my property with a hunter in it! He assured me that he had permission from the landowner (me) even used my name. When I called him on it he threatened to shoot me, claiming that I was impersonating myself. I left and called the state police and we approached the stand where he was arrested. It took 18 months to get it to court. He was convicted for trespassing, menacing, assault, hunting without a valid license and felon in possession of a firearm. Sentenced to 12 years, served 26 months.

Haven’t had that happen but did catch a guys stand and had to confront him about it, he moved it without any fuss

I would definitely cut it down. You don't want another idiot wonder onto your property see that stand and try to hunt out of it. It looks rusty and not safe. You could have someone try to hunt and fall and try and sue you. Even though they would be trespassing, in this time we live in who knows what could be awarded.

I would drive around a relative’s land with a battery sawzall with both wood and metal blades. Can’t tell you how many active stands we cut down that were installed on his property. Despite not having permission, neighbors would continue to hang stands on his property. Eventually, he had to talk with them…. A quick, pleasant but direct conversation took care of it.

This works wonders at our hunt club for such instances.
Just be sure to leave enough out that somebody tryin ta make use of the wood doesn't get caught unawares.

Especially kids just enjoying the outdoors and stumble upon it. Google “attractive nuisance”; you could be liable for their accidents just as if you had trespassers drown in an unfenced swimming pool.

I can’t really stress how not worried about trespassers I am. This area is deep into our property(well over 100acres), the only kids around our mine(when they go exploring the property they have to take a radio), to us it’s a great marker.
Also if I find a trespasser back there hurt, well we have pigs, an excavator, compost shed, pond, and as mentioned a lot of property

This one gets overblown. For it to count, the kids have to be 6 and under. If you've got 6yos wandering around the woods without adults, it's time to call social services.
