The wife picked up some new pullets this spring and one of the Barred Rocks turned out to be rooster. He has GOT to go as soon as possible. I live here in the Salisbury area and he is free. You can use him for breeding, protection or just eat him ? You can reply back to this post, or call /text to 704-433-9586

Thanks for asking,, real young bird..Think we got him in March? He looks about full size and is a pretty calm bird, but Im not supposed to have farm animals in this residential area. Hens don't make a lot of sound unless they are laying, this guy on the other hand will get the law down on us and the wife loves her birds. Im not a hunter, call me a wimp if anyone wants to but I cant bring myself to kill him myself and eliminate the problem. Thus me wanting to give him away..

My daughter had a Barred Rock rooster named Lewis. He was huge and was as gentle as could be. She would pick him up and play with him.

I'll ask if she wants another.

How would everyone react if you did kill him? Assuming they don't watch.

How would everyone react when they are asked to split the fine from the city? Assuming they have money.

I'd take him but it's not worth the drive from Asheboro. Just grab him by the head act like your slinging stones at goliath and pick him clean.

Hope you get it worked out. If you do need to kill it and want to eat it I’ve found the best way to do it is slit the throat. It’s easy to mess up wringing the neck, and you don’t want your wife to see that. Spitting the throat is quick and easy. I might be getting rid of two problem roosters myself, if I can catch and cage the little devils.

Got a 2nd floor? One shot with a suppressed 22 bolt gun from the window and nobody would be the wiser. Not as "personal" as wringing his neck.

I've heard people in neighborhoods get rid of pests this way. Neighbors have no idea, and neither does the wife standing 15' away in the kitchen. ;)

Well he found a new home tonight and already told the ladies he is the boss. Mighty fine looking rooster he is. We named him Rocky. Try to get a picture up tomorrow.

Thanks again Paul it was nice meeting you.

Sorry, wasn't a serious question but just a play on rdinatal's reference to the old dog thread from way back...
