friend from washington state is visiting my daughter and wants our best BBQ

Vinegar and crushed red pepper does not constitute BBQ!!!

Let the dog pile begin hahahaha!!!
This is the absolute truth. If you have to douse pork in spicey vinegar you screwed up cooking it and need to turn in the man card. Spicey vinegar is a great way to ruin smoked meat. That vomit inducing hog slop from lexington is flat out awful. Let the church say AMEN!

It became my favorite. I used to love Honeymonks (Lexington BBQ), but I think they chop it too fine and it lose's texture. They have bangin' hush puppies too! And smoked mac n cheese!
I took one of the boys by Saturday. Chicken had good flavor, pork was good and the smoked Mac N Cheese was as good as it sounds.

My wife loves their chicken. I usually end up witht the coarse chop tray or plate. Glad you liked it.

We were up in Statesville today and I talked a few folks into stopping by Keaton's. I got a half chicken, "spicey" with extra bbq sauce and mac & cheese. While it is definitely good we were slightly underwhelmed. Perhaps it was an off day for them, or maybe I ordered the wrong thing?
Chicken was a bit dry and while it tasted good, the "spiciness" made me wonder if the regular one is just bland. Don't get me wrong, I still ate it all, but probably would not drive the extra 30 minutes, round trip, for it again.

Edit: Forgot to mention I was surprised by the "No firearms" signs posted outside and inside the restaurant.
