Some probably do just want attention but then again they are exercising their rights.

Just because you CAN doesn't mean you should.
I CAN now go into the women's bathroom and whip it out and do my business, but I don't......
I CAN identify as a woman and receive preferential treatment, but I don't......
I CAN enter women's bicycle races and probably win, but I don't.......
I'm sure you get the point....

I get your point but I see this issue far differently than the ones you cite.

I don't open carry but since I'm allowed to by law I don't worry about someone spying my concealed gun.

The other side of the coin is that I don't like wedges being driven in between legal gun folks. I trust that's not what anyone here intends.

As far as the OP it's their business and their rules.

None of the things you listed are natural/God given rights.

Doesn't bother me at all.
I think they did a great, light hearted job of asking those that carry to consider other customers.
Many times I see open carry and it appears they just want attention.
So its ok to ban open carry but if they come after your preferred way then they get the stink eye.

Here in lies the biggest problem with the gun community.

This is just an observation, not a statement of my beliefs.

Most of the old West cowtowns of the 1880s had laws requiring that visitors check their guns with the sheriff or hotel upon entering town, and that residents leave them at home. Such was the case in places like Abilliene, Deadwood, Dodge City, Tombstone. These were the larger towns of the old West. Bodie CA was a notable exception.

Now, granted, these towns were in territories of the US, not yet part of the Union, and therefore, not subject to the Constitution.

I guess a point to be made of this is that gun control has been around, even far longer than the gun control act of 1934. That being said, these regulations focused more on the use of said weapons. I doubt that many of us gun rights advocates today object to laws forbidding the discharge of firearms into the air at a busy downtown intersection. Also, these old West laws did not focus on denying ownership or particular types of firearms. EVERYONE pretty much owned a gun during this period.

The 2nd didnt come from God, but man.
The Constitution enshrines natural/God given rights. If they were given by man then they are not rights, but privelages because that means man can take them away. I put “natural/God given” so the natural part should cover the right for the non-God fearing members.

You beat me to it....

That's got to be one of the best attempts to bridge the gap I've ever seen.

Almost every time I ask a store owner whey he put up a gunbuster sign, he will say it's because "Dirty Harry came swaggering in here with his gun and freaked everyone out." I can name the names of places where we could have legally carried concealed forever but as soon as the gun left, they posted. Sure, we have rights. So do property owners, and OC often causes them to exercise their rights.

I'll OC myself, in a rural community, at a country store to get some lunch, wearing head to toe camo and an orange hat, during deer season. But I won't carry into Harris Teeter. Just like it's my right to belch at dinner, and sometimes, when I'm alone, I will. But not around company at the dinner table. Context is everything.

I’m a firm believer that we need to desensitize people to guns. No one realizes how many are around them at any given time. If they did I don’t think so many would get freaked out by them. The left tries their hardest to get everyone desinsitized to what they want passed like LGBTQ, abortions, etc, and they are winning the war. I don’t know what the right answer is, but I don’t think it’s hiding guns. Telling someone not to exercise their right to carry because they didn’t ask the king’s men for permission to conceal just rubs me the wrong way.

It's a private business that didn't choose a gun buster, yet wants all their patrons to feel welcomed.
I don't wish, nor do I have the right to infringe on their rights either.

True but I would hope you wouldn’t patronize their private buisnesss either.
If you kick out one, you kick out all of us.

Or so it should be.

If you're serving the general public, business needs a balance, it isn't a gun buster, it's a request to consider others.

There is no such thing as god given or natural rights. There is what you can take and what society will allow.

Somehow because we are allowed the right to self defense some people are deluding themselves into thinking it can't be taken away.

Dang. I guess our founding fathers were a bunch of morons then.

Honestly, the fact that you think there is no such thing as natural/God given rights explains a lot about your posts. I don’t mean that in a jerk way, it just helps me see what you say from your point of view more.

TJs and no Cham report? Sad. Yet I'm hungry just the same. I'm still outraged there's no free drink with take-out orders anymore.

I imagine OC at the Parkway location would elicit rowdy shouting to get yo crazy _ out of there with that gun. Never noticed any signs there though.

Hey, I wish it were true too. I live in the real world though.

Prove me wrong.

It’s a belief in the right to self defense by any means necessary. I believe that right was enshrined because they knew people like you would come along and disagree. So what rights do you believe in if any? If you don’t believe in something as fundamental as the right to self defense by any means necessary, then I don’t see how you can believe in any other rights either.

I'm seeing the word "believe" a lot. That's not proof.

Take your belief across any border and see what it gets you.

I believe we have the rights that we set out for ourselves as a nation for as long as we allow it. Until someone who is strong enough comes and takes them away.

The argument that Might makes Right is as old as kings and the mantra of every petty tyrant and despot alive and dead. It’s also been proved wrong for the better part in some fashion or another since 1215 AD.

That said, suddenly all your wolves take what they want post history comes clearly into focus.

Don't forget about women and Yoga pants

I just thought it was funny.
It is funny.
I'm actually somewhat impressed with it. How many regular people know what we mean when we say fudd? Not many. At least whoever thought of this sign knows a little bit about our community and can take a joke.

Ant your constant diatribe of burning it all down is turning the other cheek.

Maybe it's like the "no shirt, no shoes, no service" signs? They don't want to look at your man boobs or ugly feet anymore than they want to look at your gun.
Especially if it's a ugly block
