Isn’t it funny who you run into. Was on the treadmill at a little hotel in Austin TX and the guy next to me was ESPN announcer Paul Sunderland. We spoke about ESPN and sports broadcasting, the rise of over the top video, the challenging issues in CA, and the identity politics on the left. All good because I know far to little about sports to get into an hour-long discussion .

I was on a treadmill next to Joel Quenville in Vancouver once. I think he was coaching the Blues at the time. That dude was in shape. Not real talkative. But friendly enough. He just got fired by the Blackhawks so this week would probably be a bad time to be with him in the gym.

I always seemed to run into more interesting people while gambling or drinking in Vegas than anywhere else though.

Saw Latoya Jackson in the airport in Milan Italy back in the early 80's. Would have rather seen Janet , Miss Jackson cause I'm nasty.

That actually makes sense. Now meeting Bob Vila in a Hooters would be odd IMO.

The only two famous people I've met were Chuck Yeager and Patty Wagstaff. Patty signed the back of my t-shirt with a black Sharpie at the Winston-Salem airshow in the early '90's.

edit: Other than race car drivers, but I don't count them. Lol.

I've met Jason Kidd and Bill Walton in airports.

I played blackjack with Emmitt Smith once. And ended up at the same table as Jeff Gordon once. With his first wife, she was smokin'.

Played blackjack once with the actress that was a little girl in the original Escape From Witch Mountian. Kim Richards I think her name was.

I got to meet some very large men that were surrounding Hugh Hefner at the Voodoo Lounge deck in Vegas once. They were not interested in letting us talk to Mr. Hefner. I even offered to buy a round of drinks. :D

Met a bunch of NBA refs in a Steakhouse in Seattle once. They were no fun at all.

Awesome. In my post about race car drivers I was referring to NASCAR drivers. Because of the business I was in I had met many of them and many had routinely visited our office so they don't count to me. But I'm sure they would count for others who are fans.

I was in Savannah for a Sport Management conference in college. Way passed midnight one evening I staggered into Lee Corso leaving a bar, well actually I think we were both staggering. Cool guy to talk to. I'll see if I can find the pic when I get home. Course that was close to 20 years ago...

I met Leslie Nielsen in the bar of a hotel I worked at. He was there for some big golf thing, and I asked him to dance. He had his fart machine with him!

So back in college I was in summer school the time they were filming the movie "Patch Adams" with Robin Williams. I had gone to the Campus Y to grab a pack of smokes and a snack (The Y was little more than a minimart on campus) and to use the bathroom. So I come rolling out of the john and there are all these people standing around and I was like "Dang yall...I was just peeing..." and then I notice that standing behind me is Robin Williams who had also gone in for something.

Oh yeah, had a talk with Dick Vitale in the Marriott Marquis in Manhattan one night. Ehhh. Had to wash my hands after that one. He's a bit phoney. And my buddy in the accounting dept there confirmed his douche-baggery.

I've also met about every famous SF 49er. Had a bunchnof autographs at some point. Old customer of mine back in CA was tight with the 49ers former criminal owners and the players would do appearances at events. Jerry Rice and Rikky Waters were jerks. The rest were very nice.

Years ago ran into Mike Ditka at his cigar bar on the second floor of the Tremont Hotel in Chicago. Saw Dennis Rodman, hard to miss, riding his motorcycle down Michigan Ave. on the same trip. Saw Hulk Hogan in the airport once and he looked like he was nearly crippled.

I lived in Hollywood a while. Walking down Hollywood Blvd. one evening, a guy comes rushing around a corner, crashed into me and I very nearly knocked him to the ground. Seemed Peter Falk’s one eye wasn’t working that day.

the famous people i have met was a result of knowing their parents.
    yep, old.
one example: Dave Haywood with Lady Antebellum.
Angie and Van Haywood (parents) went to our church
before they moved to Augusta so Van could be the Dean of the Dentistry
school at the Dental College of Georgia. Dave's talent was obvious from the start.

Went lobster diving with boog Powel.

Caught tia carerra outside a bar and staggered up and said “anyone ever tell you that you look just like tia carerra?” Found out the next day it was her.

Was in a bar in Carmel and Clint Eastwood walked in and passed out cigars (his gf just had her baby).

Few other sports stars and news casters.

Forgot that I had a few drinks with Bruce Willis once at his bar in Ketchum, ID. He actually had a pretty cool band and played a decent harmonica but damn he was a little dude. Funny thing about movies I suppose.

Years ago I was down in Anniston, AL making a run to the CMP south store. We got in late that evening and while checking into the hotel Robert Patrick (actor from Terminator 2) walked up behind us.

Met Stephen King in an elevator, I think it was at Shell Island in Wilmington, but the beach trips kinda run together. He was still recovering from a car accident as I recall.

Drank beers with John “Cougar” Melencamp a few times in Bloomington.

Funniest was my daughter who was with my wife walking into a broadway show, my daugher said “I thought we might see someone famous here” while simultaneously losing her footing and stumbling into Jamie Lee Curtis.

Hung out with Richard Watson at a buddies 4th of July party in Boone. Didn't even realize it was him for a couple years. Doh. He would be the only random, kind famous person I've really talked too. I was flagged down in a subdivision while working by Terry Cousins when he played for the Panthers. We were eating dinner in Augusta, Ga when James Brown came in with his crew to eat. Dudes hair was a crazy in real life as it is on TV. Met and hugged Faith Hill at a concert right before she broke out. Met John Prine and Doc Watson after concerts. Most of the famous folks I met were while working. I delivered high end furniture for about 6 years.

Tim Biakabutuka, had to remove the front door of his condo to get the sofa in.
Kyle Busch, super nice guy in person. Seriously. He kept trying to help us deliver his furniture and drove his truck across his yard instead of making up move our truck. Met he crew chief at another delivery.
    Kasey Kahne, good guy.
Eric Montrose, one of the largest human beings I have ever met. Nice guy too.
Doug Brazinski, lineman for the Panthers for a while.
Defensive end for the Patriots who I can't remember his name. Same with a couple NBA and MLBB players. And a couple other Panthers players.

Been in Greg Zipadelli's house. Dr Jim Goodnight, owner of SASS.

We had a lot of drivers that ran into some big names over the years.
