The addiction continues.

Numbers matching bbl and lower, numbers matching carrier and bolt (diff from each other). Bbl is diiiirty.. but will cross fingers and hope it cleans up nice.

Going to go on a NOS DCI (Coonan) type 1 i picked up for cheap.

I need to straighten the handguards..a few dings here and there, hoping it wont take more than a few light taps to sort out.

Debating finish...keep the BFPU look, or paint.. leaning on the BFPU look for now, but I need to strip the buttstock down and fix a few cracks, so I am sort like...wellllll..could just sand it down and make it all nice..which sorta begs the refinishing of everything... will cross that bridge once I get there.

I got the receiver stub off the barrel and then managed to get the barrel installed on the new upper this weekend in the short free time I had. Gotta take a look at a bipod leg (it wants to stick and not collapse for some reason), then I can focus on the lower (strip it for cleaning and asses the buttstock).

Luckily the barrel cleaned up nicely, as did some light surface rust.

I should be taking pictures as I make progress, but I don't think about it (as I am working on it)..

Any how, got the bipod leg hang up sorted.

Mag release, bolt hold open, and charging handle installed.

Locking shoulder that was part of the original kit is almost the right size, but ordered the .264 I really need though.

Dust cover needs to get straightened a little.

Next up..lower is gonna get stripped and cleaned, and I'll assess the buttstock. It needs a crack glued up, amd then a fresh coat of oil ( I like teak oil).

Hoping to get some rounds down range next week.

I watched a video of an FAL build - besides not having nearly the right tools I need, I certainly don't have the skill or patience. GOOD LUCK, I'm an FALaholic.

They're really not that bad with the right tools. I only wish I started building them back when the kits were more readily available and inexpensive.

Where do you find the tools needed to build them? I've looked in the past and have never found places to buy them.

There is a seller on falfiles (ratas calientes) who makes them. I have his barrel vise, amd a receiver wrench from DSA. The pin gauges I bought from grainger.

Not making much in terms of progress this week due to work and a few household chores gettting in the way.

Locking shoulder arrived, and stock has been stripped to some degree. Will hopefully get some time this weekend on it.

I have very well contemplated attempting an FAL kit build, is it relatively straightforward?
