Gee I miss Paul Harvey....

Good day!

Back in the mid 1980’ I lived on a ranch at the western edge of the Hill Country in Texas. The entire county had less than 2,500 people in it, and at 2,500 acres we were the “small” ranch in the area.

No TV and only 2 AM radio stations could be received. One of them broadcast from San Antonio and had a ton of power. I don’t recall their call sign but do remember that they called themselves the “Superstation”. They played a good mix of country western and it was a good choice if you could only receive one station!

Every day at noon they carried the Paul Harvey Broadcast, and on Saturday’s at noon they carried his “Rest of the story” broadcast. Many a day I sat in the truck at nooon listening to his broadcast as my main connection with the outside world.

The other radio personality that I recall from those days was Eddie Chiles. He used to have radio commercials that started off with “I’m Eddie Chiles and I’m Mad!”. He would then start in on blasting the lastest dumb liberal idea of the day.

Good times.

The main reason I miss Paul Harvey is I miss sitting in the car with my Papaw listening to him or working around the house with him listening.
