General opinions, knowledge about ESEE knives ?

I have 3 different ones. A 4 5 and a 6. All built tough workhorses. Will take a beating and make John Rambo proud. Not built for lightweight backpacking. Warranty like no other.

Lots of fakes. Buy from a trusted knife store online.

I carry an ESEE Izula II just about daily

On exposed portions of the blade due to the carbon content, don’t be surprised if you see surface rust forming, whether it’s from being used and put up without a cleaning or just high humidity. It’s easily removed and cosmetic in nature only

I have multiple Esee knives. I've bought most from Smokey Mountain Knife Works. Like other members have said there are so many fakes especially ebay. I have an Izula that I pocket carry and also have it mounted to a chest pack. I have an Esee cr 2.5 , Ashley Game Knife and a Esee 3 . I've held the 5 and it's super chunky for my hands. They all come with lifetime guarantee. I'm also a member on their forum as well. It's a good forum , check it out they have sections on about every knife and look at you tube as well.

Cannot go wrong with one of these. Especially the ESEE Izula II

I have the Izula and the 3. Couldn"t be happier with them. I attach my Izula to my kayak fishing vest. Both are stainless, cost more, but I am not a fan of coated or painted blades.

I carry an Izula daily, I own a 4,5,6 that I have on various camping bags. I’d like to pick up a machete to mount in the jeep for emergencies.

If you want to beat on one stick with the 1095 steel models. S35VN steel has not held up well to batoning though I think they still stand behind it. They resisted making stainless models aside from their 440c steel water rescue model for the longest time but caved due to demand. Magnacut steel may change that going forward but I don’t know if they’re going to use it or not.

@Mack270 I was wondering about the Xancudo for general use, cutting, carving, game prep and other light duty tasks. I ordered the Esee 4 and I'm going to also get an Esee 6for batoning and chopping. I was wondering if the Xancudo would be better than maybe an Esee 3 for light duty ?

I can’t really say, I don’t have a 3 or Xancudo. I only have an Izula 2 and a Esee 6. I have handled the 3 on several occasions and think it would be a very versatile knife in that size range.

I’ve had a esee 3 for over 10 years.
It’s one of the best knife purchases I have ever made.
Holds an edge well , it’s a fairly wide profile and thick spine for a 3” knife.
