My generator doesn't get much use. Even with a battery tender the crap batteries don't last. But I have an unlimited supply of various car batteries via my BIL, plus all my cars have batteries. Rather than replace the expensive gen battery - or try to get jumper cables on those little goofy hard to get at terminals, I kinda replaced the battery. $11 twist lock welder lead terminals.

would you post step-by-step instructions,
or is there something on the internet which
i could go by? please post the link if there is.

What's your AO? If you're close I can give you a shopping list and we can get-r-done here.

I'll work on the instructions.

What I do is take the battery out of my lawn mower and leave it in the garage where the generator is kept in case of need. This helps me to remember to keep a charge on it, and its right there when and if I need it. But that's a great idea, and I might give it a shot. Thanks for posting.

since my generator battery was FORD (found on road dead) yesterday i was wondering about alternate means...
I got no extra car batteries, but i never thought about using a car battery either. i suppose in a worst case scenario, I could go ahead and either roll my generator to the car or the other way around...
I do have spare jumper cables... so there's that

Do you have a jump box around? I keep a trickle charger on mine and also stuck one of these cords on it I can plug the NOCO jump box on if needed.
