I have this massive hardwood tree that is dead and rotten. It's right where I want to build a new chicken coop.

I know not to cut it with my chainsaw, because of the fear of limbs falling and killing me. So, I asked my dad for advice.

He said I should try to push it over with my tractor, or pull it down with my truck. But, either way I still need to watch out for falling limbs.

I just tried pulling it down and all that did was break a tow strap. It's massive. But it's also been dead for so long that it's crumbling like paper.

So, after about 6 beers and 2 minutes of thought, I did what I thought was the next best idea...

I said, "DRACARYS!"

That’s what I would’ve done too. Better now than in 2 weeks with everything getting dryer by the day with these high temperatures.

I live way out in the country, but I did not pull a burn permit. I hope this does not come back to bite me in the ass.

Man, you missed a perfect “binary target” chance there. Might have taken a couple “charges” but it woulda been way better “here hold my beer” fun.
I have some tannerite, and i did think about this, but the tree is kinda closer to my house. I was a little nervous about tannerite busting my windows.

Unless you keep it burning. You are going to have a spot in that tree that is hard as a rock.
Yes sir. The tree is near my wood pile. I'm going to (edit to add: drink beer and )keep adding wood until the stump is totally gone.

And, I'll pour a few sips on the concrete for my fallen brothers and sisters..

I almost forgot what I was drinking for today and tomorrow.

Next time instead of playing with it and tearing stuff up, ask someone for help. Some of us have ropes, pulleys, and understand mechanical advantage.

Sorry Burt... My wife said this comment was not nice and i should delete it.

I have had too much to drink while thinking about a few missing friends. I should not have been so aggressive.

Lol not an expert on anything, but I do have a little rigging experience. Should’ve just left snarky comment up, I can still read the pre edit version.

Toodles

I agree. I thought it was ok.

But my wife said, "That's not nice. Delete that. "

Just hope your spread isn't named Isengard! :p

We come, we come with roll of drum: ta-runda runda runda rom!

We come, we come with horn and drum: ta-rūna rūna rūna rom!

To Isengard! Though Isengard be ringed and barred with doors of stone;
Though Isengard be strong and hard, as cold as stone and bare as bone,
We go, we go, we go to war, to hew the stone and break the door;
For bole and bough are burning now, the furnace roars - we go to war!
To land of gloom with tramp of doom, with roll of drum, we come, we come;
To Isengard with doom we come!
With doom we come, with doom we come!

Sitting here watching The Two Towers as I read that. :)

I am really pissed I am up in NY and could not self-invite myself along with some bourbon for this event. I thin that technique is right up my alley.

Well done. :D
I wish you were here too.

I'm feeling pretty good. But I'm not hammered.

More like, I don't have any friends and don't know what it's like to sit around a camp fire with friends anymore...

Well we can likely remedy that. Unless Cuomo finds out I am in this State. Then they’ll probably arrest me for my 3” Benchmade and hatchet in my backpack.

Cuomo would want you to register/tax your assault knife and hatchet.

It can burn for weeks.

So can the roots.

Went to one fire at a home that the folks were at the beach on vacation. They hadn't been home in a week.

Guy had a stump in the yard that he wanted to get rid of without working too hard. He'd been burning yard debris piled around and on the stump off and on for 2 or 3 months. Before they went to the beach he had cleaned up around the stump. Wasn't hardly anything left in that area. You could barely tell there was ever a stump there.

Anyway, homeowners were gone. Storage building about 30 feet away from the stump burnt to the ground. Roots had been slowly smoldering for weeks until they got to a place close to the surface that had some air under the storage building.

Holy shit. Thanks Bill. I hadn't thought that far ahead. I'll watch this one for a while.
