Had a random problem pop up on my G19 yesterday and could use help diagnosing the cause.

Halfway thru a range session the trigger became sticky right before the trigger break. Past the take up, safety plunger already depressed, when the connector and birds beak are engaging.

Took it home, stripped and cleaned it. Things felt a little better but then dry firing it came back.

When I take off the slide, I can apply forward pressure to the “shark fin” and actuate the trigger. I can visibly see/feel the birds beak area of the transfer bar catching against the connector as it slides down. It catches, slides, then catches, etc kind of skipping down the connector. When I look at the parts disassembled their are no visible burrs, both areas are polished.

Any ideas? Only thing I can think of is the inner edge of the birds beak is catching on the inner bend of the connector. Perhaps breaking that edge with a few passes of some 400 grit sandpaper?

My first guess would have been oil/lubricant inside the slide, but you already stripped/cleaned it. Oil in the safety plunger can cause sluggish trigger pull once grit starts to accumulate.

A shooting buddy once told me that the spring cups on his firing pin assembly had broken into pieces and caused a sticky/gritty feeling during trigger pull. Probably a one-in-a-million shot, but you never know

Ive seen spring cups fail too

I would check the spring in the safety plunger. If that's OK, I'd pull the firing pin and check/clean the channel.

Take his advice. He knows two things

Root cause: something on the connector. It’s a Lone Wolf 3.5

Stripped the gun again entirely and thoroughly cleaned everything, every channel. Spring cups looked good, everything looked fine.

Put it together, issue was still there. Definitely something after the takeup and after the safety plunger is engaged. Right as it’s trying to break.

With the slide off, could easily move the striker, no issues with the plunger.

Stripped the lower back down. with the connector housing out, I can rub the transfer bar against the connector and feel a grating.

I put the stock dot connector back in and it was perfectly smooth. Reassembled everything with the dot connector and it’s smooth.

Looking at the LW 3.5 connector I don’t see anything wrong with it but for some reason they are rubbing weird. I’ll have to take it to work and look at it under a good magnifier in the shop.

Yah, trash that and polish a OEM "-" one and be done. I think I have 3 or 4 lone wolf connectors I'm not using.
