Glock upgrade

I have been shooting 1911s since the late 90’s and I love them. But with all the unrest that has been happening over the past few years I thought I should buy a double stack pistol to keep in the car. Mainly I was unable to convince my wife to let me mount a AR pistol to the console on each of our vehicles. I bought this Glock last spring and I have been shooting it a couple of hundred rounds each month trying to convince myself that I like it. At this point I cannot and cosmetically it looks like the ugly fat girl at the prom. This brings me to two options, sell it or upgrade it and hope for the best. My biggest issues outside of appearance is the trigger and slide release. Replacing the slide release is easy but what options are good for the trigger. Side note, I don’t want to turn this $600 pistol into a $1000 pistol because it mainly is carried in the car. This is a Glock 19 gen 5
Sights and slide release. Anything else is wasted money. Learn to shoot it with the trigger it comes with...you will thank yourself in the end.

I like my Glock 19, gen 5 with the following mods:
1) Overwatch PolyDat trigger. Less than $60.00. I really like this flat face trigger.
2) Replace the 5.5 lb striker spring with a 5 lb. striker spring. Estimate of $5.00.
3) Replace the connector with a Glock minus connector. Estimate of $20.00.

Those three changes improves the "feel" of the Glock trigger, for me. Some veteran Glock users refuse to change the connector.

It still does not emulate a 1911 trigger! But, it's a better Glock trigger.

Or you could put your hair up in a man bun and buy a CZ.
Ok thread drift...
I am not scared to rock a man bun. It’s my way of campaigning against them. When the old grey-haired men start doing something the young ones stop. You’ll thank me one day.

ETA I tried wearing a CZ too but I just couldn’t do it.

I carry a gen 3 now with a zev trigger and I'm accurate enough with it. Honestly if you cannot get over the looks just punt it and buy a CZ. Yeah it's not as good of a trigger as a 1911 but for $600 it's a great gun. I went balls to the wall with a full cgw kit and I wouldn't recommend it. It's amazing but the 3 spring kit and some practice they are amazing guns out of the box.

M&P 2.0 with an apex trigger shoes are amazing guns if you want to stick with polymer. It's on par with my zev gen 3 and the m&p is a cheaper gun. I just stand by Glocks because the magazines are stupid cheap and I kind of have a problem buying magazines I don't need...

A Glock will never be a 1911. A BHP is close to a 1911, and even it isn't a 1911. The aftermarket doo-dads have evolved to the point that the people who have to use them intimately, quickly, and accurately, make them extremely reliable and accurate, to the point that those people don't carry 1911s any longer. So far as I know only one military unit continues to use 1911s, and I think even they will be moving to the G19.

But the Glock will never represent the mystique and lore of the 1911, that's for sure.
