Glory in my pain - Brit rehabs a filthy trailer.

Don't forget us with some pictures along the way. Stickit out, you'll be glad!!!!!

I'm planning on taking some today, it's a paint and windows day so stuff should actually look different.

My shoulder damage is screaming already from painting ceilings and around ceiling fans. I'm damn glad we decided not to paint over all the faux panelling that's for sure.

Pics later, I need to hydrate and get back to it!

I feel for you man, working in this heat. You got AC inside there?

Yeah and it even works pretty well for being old.

Well we had to go back to get my girlfriend's meds, so I snapped a couple of pics. Bathroom and one bedroom finished, bar some skirting board and a teensy bit of edging.

My girlfriend is talking about renting it and I am somewhat coming around to her way of thinking.

Well damn!!! What a difference already. Your hard work is paying off.

Renters can be good or a nightmare it depends on who you get

Yeah, that's always been my objection. I've heard some horror stories.

Yeah it's really starting to feel like progress.

With two dwellings on site you have options.

Man cave.
Workshop.
Place for the kids to escape to.
Guest house for in-laws or outlaws.
His and her hobby studios.

Renters? They dont own it so the don't take care of it.

Well I decided my arm had gotten too close to normal again so I painted the living room ceiling today. We had help again today so there was more cleaning of walls, half the smaller bedroom floor carpet tiles are down and the rest ready to cut whilst the kitchen floor started to get levelled out.

The motor in the AC got wet (don't ask) so after shutting it off the temp inside steadily rose until we all had to bail. But the living room is almost done bar me needing to touch up the edges and clean the walls and ceiling "beams". Smaller bedroom should be done almost as soon which just leaves the big kitchen work as the only major thing except for hanging a couple of doors.

Well except for the huge wasp nest in the water heater closet outside. They're aggressive as hell so we contacted a bunch of folks for estimates.

Cold water for summer isn't all bad.

Well the water is still hot, but there's so many wasps in the outside cavitt if you stick your head in the cupboard inside that's adjacent you can hear the buzzing.

I had a big nest in an outbuilding.
Get a realllllyyyy long pole, put a couple foggers on the end and prop it up under the nest.
Also, clear the area for an hour or two.

Thats my current plan. Problem is part 1 requires me to open the door lol

I think I have an idea how to do this. It's just a bit nerve wracking, these are some mean buggers.

Go out and hit them before it gets light. Open door, put in bug bombs, close door, go get breakfast....

Look for the crappiest reviewed plumber in your area and tell them you're having an issue with the water heater and you want it examined.

They open door and run off. Yeah you may get a bill for a service call charge but the door is open now.

:D

Yeah these are the European bastards that are almost as aggressive after dark.

Nasty lol. I've got a long pole for the roller that I'm going to tape a coat hanger hook onto, I think it's long enough that I can run like a bitch.

Sorry about the lack of updates, been a lot going on.

Firstly my girl called an exterminator and he rousted the wasps/bees/whatever no problem.

Secondly, I think my mild rotator cuff injury has been exacerbated to hell with all this work, it was pretty much wrecked yesterday but feels a bit better today.

The last few days have been sort of frustrating with little clear progress a d lots of hopping back and forth between stuff. Job hunting took most of yesterday.

Biggest thing other than more paint and cleaning was ripping out some janky floor in the living room.

That's me probing for the extent of the soft spot. I ended up taking out an area about three joists wide, I just didn't get a pic of it.

I'll be fixing that today as well as other tasks including installing the bedroom AC unit. It's coming together

Busy day today. I finished filling that hole in the floor, all the painting is now done except the one accent wall in the kitchen, got the AC installed in the back room and we've got the living room pretty much done bar a bit of cleaning.

Our plans for the kitchen are alas buggered, so I'm back to looking for a sink, counter and a couple of cabinets on a shoestring budget. Fun.

Other than that it's actually gone really well this weekend, really starting to feel like the home stretch.

As far as shoestring budget - check out a local Habitat Restore
Or stop in one of those building supply liquidator places, I know we have some in WS, and I popped into one on Friday, actually. Some things I knew 'normal' pricing and it was quite cheaper there. Not everything, but a lot.

so I'm back to looking for a sink..

I've got a sink and single handle faucet you can have if that helps.
Both used but good. The sink is a shallow model with a disposer strainer basket. The faucet is an American Standard single handle.

Maybe worth the 2 hours driving in an economical car or if we can get a pony express going to get them to you.
