What are some of your go to budget brands when it comes to optics. I'm working on a range toy that I plan on taking out every once in a while just because it's a fun gun. I'm not planning on doing any serious training with it so I don't want to put several hundreds into an optic that I only plan on using a handful of times out of the year. I know Holosun, Sig and Vortex make some pretty cheap optics but are there others that I'm missing?

For a budget precision scope, SWFA fixed power is hard to beat.

What sort of range toy is it? Precision? General purpose AR? Plinker?

We at Camera Land Sport Optics have already started Site Wide discounting for Black Friday. You can get excellent options, at reasonable prices, from Burris, Konus, Athlon, Sightron and GPO. It's our pleasure, as a long standing supporting vendor here, to discuss the different available options and special opportunities with you. Please give a call, 516-217-1000, when you have the time. Thanks

$99 Riton red dot with RMSC pattern had been great. Carried it every day on my EDC for over a year, and its auto adjust worked 10x better than Holosun’s. I only upgraded to a 407k for the 6 MOA dot as it stays sharper with my astigmatism, and the Riton is now an offset dot on an AR.

The Burris Droptine 3-9x40 rimfire has an OK with me. Lifetime warranty. $129.99 on Amazon.

It's a 22. so I really only use it as something for cheap fun.

I'm not familiar with SWFA, what is that?

Lots of long range shooters use their higher mag scopes but they ave various options. Have to catch certain models in stock though, they sell out.

Cant speak to the entire brand, but I've been very happy with the quality and durability of both of my Monstrum optics.
My first one spalled enough debris off the inside the first time I used it to make it look like a snow globe made of ash.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you got a lemon or I've just been very lucky along the way.

What optic and what were you shooting it on? Also, did they fix it for you given they have a lifetime warranty?

One of their earlier models, a basic red dot. And nope, I got it cheap so I chalked it up to experience and tossed it in the weird builds junk pile. I got a 3x from the same series and it's sat on the shelf ever since. Can't have a great rep, nobody was interested in buying it cheap.

Interesting, was this months/years ago? I only stumbled onto them recently, but have found nothing but good to great reviews. Wondering if it was an early teething issue for a new company.

Everyone has a different price range to define “budget” what is yours ?

Not only does Camera Land have good prices. They are a site sponsor and no matter what optic you go with, there’s something to be said about having the ability to contact the man directly and not go through phone trees, just to get someone who cannot help you and needs to transfer you to someone else etc, etc., for me great customer service is something I look for when researching companies.

fwiw I have been absolutely delighted with all of my several purchases from @gr8fuldoug at Cameraland
... good advice, careful attention-to-detail, really fast shipping, best price around, huge selection, bought a few nicer items and also some lower-end stuff

I bought a Sightron S1 2x7 for my 22 10 years ago for about $110 and I am still happy with it.
