I have recently bought a google pixel 4a cell phone. As some of you may know I am very technical etc. IMHO this phone is the shit! I am also trying google fi which uses wifi and cellular tower from t-mobile us cellular etc. for when wifi isn't available. The phone cost $350; Google fi is minimum $20. I am trying to find problems for the phone and service. The phone is the real shit!!!!! The service I'm still testing. IMHO its all good, you can use 2 sims on the phone a down loaded sim from google and the sim from your provider. As of now I'm using google fi just for the hell of it. Just want to contribute to the site.

I hope someone comes out with an open source phone or one with a privacy focus. Until then, I'm stuck with the scroogle.

Either way, cell phone service is very location and time dependent.

I've had AT&T for years. Coverage is spotty in the mountains compared to Verizon. In the past year the sound quality in my home has gone to crap. I'm using a note 9

Can you move from carrier to carrier?

I use the 3a xl, I agree with you, pixel is a great choice.

I used fi for awhile, found it had more dead zones, because nvmos are not prioritized.

You can use google fi and another carrier. Google fi doesn't use a sim card that leaves your physical sim for your carrier
You can have 2 numbers on the same phone.

linux has phones out. They are pricy but like their computer software they are open source.

They all suck for privacy and civil liberties. I will go out of my way to avoid giving any of them money or access to my data.

Sir; may I say 1rst I agree with you I never want to give up my liberties or data: however they were lost long ago. You signed into this site on a computer connected to the internet for all to see. Did you use apple or Microsoft? Did you use a vpn? Did you use onion and tor? There are ways to to try to be incognito on the internet but they are mostly useless. I suggest to not talk about anything political etc. You are a known gun owner by just being on this site. Semper Fi!

I'm using ubuntu over nord vpn with chromium.

Chromium pings back on startup, something Brave doesn't do. I'm anonymized so they cannot tag the traffic to me - just someone using chromium, going to a url from Switzerland or Kenya.
