Spent 4 wonderful days first part of the week at the hunt club playing with my gear. From new to new-ish. To old-and-very-familiar.
The "new" was a Springfield Hellion 16".
The new-ish is a Ops Core bump with Peltor ComTac IVs.
And my trusty old FLC which carries my bushcrafty tools, fluids, semi-emergency kit, "necessary paper", nabs and other sundries.
Did 2 days of trampin and one day of piddlin with the Hellion at the 360* range. The other I just goofed off... worse than usual.

The Hellion:
..I'm really lovin the form factor. Yes, the trigger is annoying. But 'least it's not a Mil-Spec grater, tho'. You could read a book thru the initial travel but if ya just ride the reset for the follow-ups it's ok. No hiccups in the lil 180 or so rounds I've put thru it so far. Seems to be hittin where I aim. Haven't benched it yet to see what I can wring out of it with factory fodder. It's heavy. Mine weighs 9.1#s as I tote it. But for travel it's mighty fine cause it "carries" lighter. Easily fits amongst the other things on the front and slips away on the back. I'll prolly cinch it up a bit more on my back next time.
It's also very unobtrusive in the camper or truck cab and hangs around at break stops.

Bump with ComTacs:
..With my hearing gone to crap the VA set me up with hearing aids. They're great for around the house but a few things don't work elsewhere. Everything loses it's direction and sounds like an AM radio plus ya can't shoot. Also, I've had a few close calls and outright ass busts on the steep embankments and rocky creeks I frequent out there all by my lonesome in BFE. The girls hooked me up with this setup on my last birthday. They're growing on me. It's a lotta crap on my head, but it beats a rock in my head. It's also nice to be able to hear well again and the sound quality is excellent. Directional works. I can leave that "John Holmes" class can at home if I like and that's 1.5# off my kit. I can see'em melting my ears in the later Spring or Summer. The pop-out feature helps. But for right now they keep my ears warm in the morning and Kris worries less. Helmet needs a visor and Ima hasta get somethin to protect my eyes.
Somethin's forever gettin in my eyes or tryin to pok'em out even without the Red Ryder. 🤖

FLC:
..If there's a better somethin for haulin my small crap around the woods I haven't found it yet. Nothin this inexpensive and modular, anyways.
Got one set up as a Faux Chest Rig to play with doing mag swaps, too. The issue 3 mag pouch works great for my hand pruner, folding saw and various meds.
Not so much for the mag swaps. Got some other goofiness on order to try. All-in-all a great lil trip to the woods..👍
