It bugs me when folks refer to their "Custom" rifles when all they did was swap out a trigger or change a hand guard. But, here I go.

Looking to get into long range .22LR. My original plan was a Vudoo....but....>$2300 for a .22? Nah. As a lefty, there are really very few choices. Vudoo or Savage. Yea, CZ makes a left, but they're hard to come by.

So, I picked up this Savage MK II BTVLSS. Heavy barrel, adjustable trigger. I had one a few years back that was an absolute tack driver.

Then, I called up John at AccurateRifleSystems.com to ask about his MK II chassis. He normally only ships them for right handed actions, but I asked him (this is where I can say "custom") if he could machine it for a lefty. And, Et voila!

Chassis has integrated ARCA rail, barricade stop, adjustable LOP and cheek riser

Here's what it'll look like when I'm all done:

I'm hoping to be competitive in long range .22 at 1/3 the cost of a Vudoo. Should be here this week, can't wait to get her dialed in.

Badass looking rifle.

I hate it when someone has a "custom" gun and it means they changed the sights, grips, or painted it. Same as for motorcycles, bolt on stuff doesn't make it a custom.

Going with gold Cerakote? :D

Going to be an awesome rifle Tim!

That is a sweet setup! Can’t wait to see her completely done.

It's going to look real good on you, they machined right through their logo on the left side. :(

Joe @ AccurateRifleSystems.com actually called and told me he was going to machine a completely new one specifically because of the logo. It would have added a week to delivery time, so I told him to go ahead and cut through the logo.

Too bad they don’t make one for a 457. That’s a sweet chassis.

Just a question. I know that aluminum "chassis" (chassises?) are a big thing now, but doesn't aluminum flex a lot with temperature?

I’m not worried about that with a .22lr. I’m fairly certain most high end rifle chassis are aluminum, so must not be a real concern.

OK, I never really understood the lefty/righty stuff when it came to a bolt action. I'm right handed but always thought having a left handed bolt would be neat because you could re-chamber a round and not have to re-acquire your grip.

the “strong” hand should not have much of a grip in this discipline. “Weak” hand is providing support.

I have owned RH bolts and did very well with them. From the bench or prone. But as soon as positional shooting comes into play, I’d much rather have a lefty.

Arrived this morning packaged in a nice Flambeau hard case. I'm kinda giddy. This thing is sweet. Adjustments are easy, dropping the action in was easy. Now, I just need to find a grip with less 'angle' and I'll be good to go.

I have a Blue Titanium Shake-n-Spray Duracoat kit on the shelf that I could use, but I may just leave it bare aluminum for now.

The B5 Systems grip is decent for getting a more perpendicular angle. No right/left-hand issues.

I actually have one of those in a drawer. I'd need to do some minor surgery on the beaver tail to make it work.

That's going to be nice. I'm not a fan of the flapper triggers but I had an old FV-something-something a long time ago and it shot very well.

CHRIS
Flapper trigger? Can't find it on google, just toilets and other stuff non-gun....

The glock like center section on the trigger. I don’t like them. There is probably a more accurate name for them but that’s what I think of when I see them . Lol.

CHRIS
A friend calls then donkey d....
Thanks. I am not for of flappers either.....lol.

good call! I had one in a drawer that worked well with a bit of file work to remove the beaver tail.

I've put a couple hundred rounds through it so far...it'll shoot. I've been ringing steel out to 260 yards, but hadn't shot for groups past 50 until today.

I guess this'll do. My only 2 groups shot at 200 yards today, both 5 shot.

Bag and bi-pod.

That shot off to the left killed me...I knew as soon as I pulled the trigger it was off. 0.62 and 0.95 MOA.

Hey @Tim, what distance did you zero and how much are you dialing at 100, 200, 260? Also what ammo are you shooting?

Btw, that’s impressive.

That group minus the flyer was .58 MOA.

Stupid flyers.

Well, it'll shoot. But apparently I can't. Had it out for a .22 PRS/NRL style match last weekend. I have not shot that poorly in years! I was something like 30th out of 40 shooters. Terrible. But, I think it was just not having good dope worked up for. Yeah, that's it.

@VOD Tactical 's 18yo daughter curb stomped me and was kind enough to only gloat a little bit.
