My son and I are headed down to one of his friend's place in Southern Guilford County to finally shoot my new M107.

I've got a suppressor for it but didn't have time to install it since this was a spur of the moment deal.

Should be a good time.

Is there any amount of ear pro that makes that safe to be around? I see the brake on that and can image feeling the concussion in the next county over. Have fun!
Long as you’re behind it it’s not that bad

My old CG unit had a bunch of Barrett M82s.

We'd take 10 of them at a time on certain range days, and line them up on the flat range.

Just one makes a lot of concussive force, if you are standing to the side of the muzzle brake. But 10 of them firing all at once was crazy!

What magnification is the optic?

Little mini dust tornados? Lol

Just got back. It was a blast.:D

Trijicon 40mm Reflex 1x.

This rifle has the short 20" barrel so for now I just stuck this sight on it. It's a nice clear green dot sight.

Did a quick bore sight this morning and just two clicks down once we got out there and it was hitting dead on at 50 yards.

My son's friend didn't have a large piece of property so we didn't get to reach out with it very far, but they had a safe backstop for it.

Like Burt Gummer said, the concussion isn't too bad if you stand directly behind the shooter. However, I was surprised that it would still thump you pretty good even 20 feet behind the shooter.

We shot 40 rounds of PMC X-Tac 740 gr. Solid Brass. Fun shooting.

Try it under a shelter ... it will knock years of dust, dirt dauber nests, etc out of the rafters along with anything else not nailed dow. It also will clear almost even other shooter on the line ... most with grins of just seeing one fired,

I have a 21 sec clip on YouTube of my son's friend shooting it. He's attending West Point but is home because of the virus crap.

I can't post here because of some language but I'll post it in the basement.

I forgot to post this. There was a young kid there with us today. He looked to be about 15 or so. He was the younger brother of my son's friend who lives there.

He was afraid to shoot this rifle. After some coaxing from his Dad and I, we finally convinced him that it wasn't bad to shoot at all and was actually scarier to stand there and watch someone shoot it.

So he took a shot.

Later on, when my son and his friends went to get some drinks, this kid was sitting there with just him and myself there when he said, "Excuse me sir. Can I shoot it again?"

:D:D

Made my day right there. I told him of course. Loaded up the mag and he blasted off 3 rounds. Lol. Had a big smile on his face.

If that stock is On your shoulder with the brake off and the suppressor on it...it is Awful!! Shot exactly 1 round like that.

The bolt is 3 times as bad as the semi.

That's awesome. What a great day. I can't imagine being 15 and getting a chance to shoot that.

I usually shoot mine early morning down at PHA before the ammo blasters get there. Went one morning and was just setting up and a guy parked is stuff two benches down. I suggested to him that I was there early for a reason (I let him know why) and that he should probably move down a couple benches. He declined, bad for him. Knocked his AR off the rest and he barely caught it before it hit the concrete. He left, I said bye. About 15 rounds later I had a big gulp cup with a lid on the bench beside me. Knocked the lid off the cup and the cup never moved.

Wait till you start loading for it.............................

Add this to the life rules thread:

“If someone walks up to you at the range and says ‘you may want to move a bit, this is going to throw a blast’ then go ahead and move...and if you don’t, don’t stomp off as if you weren’t warned.”

I'd like to have seen that.

.
My shootin bud just looked at it and said damn.
215 grains of 50BMG and a 750 grain Hornady.

Absolutely you may. But I would have figured you had already played with one of these big rifles down at @BatteryOaksBilly 's place.

If not, then it's another great excuse to meet another CFF member.:D

When I was a kid I had a belt of about 100 rounds of surplus .50. I used a pipe cutter to cut the brass and pour out the powder, it was about the diameter of pencil lead and about 3/16" long. Wish I still had'em.

Amen, the bolt version will wake you up real quick !!!

+1...I shot a bolt version one time at a buddies house. I made the mistake of sitting on a stool while using the gun on a wooden table. After i shot it, i was standing up about 2 feet behind where i was sitting prior to pulling the trigger with the gun in my arms trying not to drop it. The stool was at least 2 more feet behind where i was and everybody was laughing hysterically. It was that moment when i realized why they had screws on the bottom of the bi pod. We shot some armor peircing stuff through an old safe, cut through it like butter front to back and side to side. It was a blast for sure. Glad i can say i shot one once, but not eager to do it again.

I've only shot the semi auto Barrett .50s... The last two years, I've been really wanting one. But, I don't want to spend $8k on a gun... So, I had been thinking about buying one of the bolt action ones for $3k to save money. I just assumed that the bolt action models would shoot the same as the semis...

After reading your comment, I'm glad I didn't buy one of the bolt models.... I guess I'll just keep saving my pennies. Maybe I can buy an M82 in about 20 years, if they don't get outlawed first...

I didnt know there was a difference either, but the guys that had the one i shot were wishing they had the semi. I just assumed it was for the magazine but maybe there was another reason.

Don't run from them; its entirely tolerable. You just have to have a good position and be ready for the recoil. If you're just looking for fun and can afford the ammo, .50 is great !

At a casual long range shoot down in Maxton, a guy trotted one out and parked next to me on the ground, but he was a good 6-8 ft away. I stood up to watch as he set up and he let people shoot. I had to move my rifle, because the brake was kicking up enough dirt to rain it down on my gun. Of course, when it was my turn, he had a case jam in the chamber and no one had a solid cleaning rod to tap it out.

AR-50. Not any more than high brass 12ga.
But it will clean off the bench.
