Graphics Cards prices and availability getting worse.

I understand crypto mining has driving these prices to insane levels, which is one reason I quit PC gaming altogether in 2018.

No worries though, as I fear that playing first person shooter games in real life is just around the corner. Guess we'll find out tomorrow

I thought crypto mining was a thing of the past now, thought that the cost of energy to mine had been outstripped by the complexity of the mining

Funny you mention this, an old friend from HS posted on fb today that he needed help finding a graphics card. They’re usually $700, now $1100 if you can find them, and being resold for $2k on eBay!

not at today's prices. Bitcoin has been on a tear lately north of $30K, and only expected to rise.

sheesh. i just looked up my parts, and i feel like my computer is worth more now than it was when i built it almost 2yr ago
But I wouldn't sell it - it dives my VR

Most of the serious crypto mining is using asic now tailored to whatever currency you're looking at mining.
Still hard to turn a profit on it. Few people I know who've bought asic rigs only turn a profit cause someone else foots the power bill.

while it wouldn’t be running newer games at 4k and 150 FPS, i could SLI 2 1660s or 1650s or the 2060s and be just fine and dandy for most video games. probably all depending on setting.

my current rig had a 1050ti and on high setting in 1080 i’m still getting 70/80fps. in COD. that’s fine with me

Eve online, well ultra setting and it still hits the frame limits set by the devs amd run smooth
