I picked up a Checkmate with the QD mounting system a couple years ago from THSF, with a couple of of the adapters at the time. I’ve been looking the last few weeks to pick up a few more. Apparently Griffin discontinued this can in the time since I bought mine, and along with that, quit making the adapters, too. They’re nowhere to find online, and I’ve reached out to Scott to see if he can help, but all of his sources are dried up, too.
Anyone else in the same boat? Or have you been able to find some magically?

I've not needed any additional ones so you just made me aware that I now I have a problem.

Does the piece you’re looking for have moving parts? Can’t remember exactly how it works, or what item you’re looking for. Is it like a 3-lug piece with a spring it in?

Nope it's the thread adapter with the bumps on it

It’s the 3 lug adapter. No spring or moving parts.

So something you could hand to a competent machinist and have extras made? Surely we have some of those around here. If not, I know at least one.

This piece?

That would be great. Feel free to tag someone if they’re a member here.
BTW, I found this (https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/Source-for-discontinued-Griffin-adapters-/20-483450/) thread on ARFcom from a little over a year ago where you chimed in on a similar thread. Did the guy you mention ever make any of these that you are aware of?
Never heard that anybody contacted him. And I can’t stand to deal with the guys from GA, so I dropped it after his comments.

I can put you in touch with him if you want to send him one to duplicate. Just know it probably won’t be a quick turnaround. But I bet he could sell a batch of them.

Still interested if someone is willing to fab some of these, but I just placed an order for the direct thread adapter. Those are also showing out of stock most places, but found one website showing it in stock. We’ll see if they cancel the order or ship it.

That didn’t take long. I just got an email saying they didn’t actually have the adapter, and they have canceled my order and refunded payment.

Email Griffin and ask for the CAD files and material specs. If they're not willing to support them, why not release the info for the secondary market to support.

I thought about that, too. I would love to give this to the shop I deal with.

If I was still on 3rd shift, I would make another, myself! One of my former bosses accused me of making an entire motorcycle, using the department's equipment, when I was working 3rd. Lol.

Dang. It wasn’t that long ago that Griffin was really pushing the Checkmate QD. Can’t believe they have discontinued the mounts. I bought the last of them that JKupp had in his shop, but that still left me needing a couple for 10/22 builds I hadn’t finished. Guess I’ll have to swap adapters around now. My plan was to have and adapter on each rimfire I wanted to suppress.

If y’all are patient, and have one that you can send to a machinist, I bet I could get a batch made.

Any luck getting any specs from Griffin? I bet seriously doubt they’d give them to me. I’m not a huge fan of their online persona at all, and have said as much several time. But they do make really nice stuff.

I have given one to a member of this forum to see if they can fab one up. If so, I will beta test it to see if it is worth pursuing.

I can CAD/Cam it out pretty easy. more important thing is the material and if heat treat. Given that suppressors get hot, I would think it's heat treat.

I think Ive got one that isn't mounted if there is a machinist who wants to tackle making a run.

We’ll see. I’ll surely buy several if/when they become available. I lit them up on FB this morning on one of their posts knocking Dead Air for stranding their customers. Their post actually said: “We love silencer owners and we don't believe they should be left in the cold.”

Oh the irony.

The Plan-A. Yeah, they’re d-bags online. That’s the single reason they’ll never get a nickel from me...which is a shame because they seem to make decent stuff. They’ve made several boneheaded decisions...and I’m surprised they’ve not been locked up for copyright infringement at some point along the way.

ETA...I do need to do a slight backtrack. I just remembered I bought one of their FBSs a couple years ago since it works on SiCo pistons.

Any idea why they discontinued the Checkmate? I have one of their QDs and it is a darn good suppressor. I was surprised when I hear they discontinued them, given how hard they pushed them when they were in production.

No idea.

Perhaps their suppressor infringed on a patent?

Well Griffin replied to my FB post tonight FWIW:
“There's a production run of checkmate (3 lugs) coming up this week in a 300k dollar twin turret machine. Production time is extremely valuable and there's a lot of products to support that are still in our product line so support for discontinued skus takes a back seat. But despite that fact we are still supporting it... it's just takes awhile sometimes.”

They could sub it out if they really wanted to. $300K cnc paid for by customers who got the shaft.
Updated: I do not own any of their products.

I offered to put them in contact with a machinist that could do it, and they came back with some line about tolerances and taking shortcuts and blah blah blah. The guy ran the machine shop at Dale Earnhardt Inc, and they do lots of other types of work. I’d bet they have 2x-4x (or more) the equipment that GA has, and the tolerances are pretty tight at 200mph. Their business...their decision.

Hope it works out for you.

I don't own any of their products, I agree with you all they need to do is walk in with the file on a USB stick and any shop can do it with the blanks.
DEI got into suppressors that would be interesting. :) The DALE can, now taking preorders.

They would sell a blue million of them, at least for a while. I’d buy one. “Suppressor so good, it can even shut Rusty Wallace up!”

Each suppressor comes with a free case of Sundrop.

This is ridiculous coming from GA.

Curious - what did Griffin do to tick everyone off? I have several of their cans, mostly because they were what Jeremy Kupper could get SNs for before 41F hit. I waited too long to have a lot of choice. They have been good cans for me, but I don’t know much about the company’s reputation.

They have a lot of fans. They make good stuff. Wanted to get that out of the way first.

Some people dislike them for this:

Some have never forgiven them for this:

And some, like me, just can’t stand the online persona they have. My experience is based on their AR15 account. They constantly trash other companies and generally put their foot in their mouths. Almost every thread they get involved in results in at least a couple people saying they’ll avoid buying GA products anymore.

I believe there was also some exaggerating of their service record, which caused many veterans to have a bad taste in their mouth.
