Gun control

That was in approximately 2007 (based on the 5 years after the Appalachian Law School Shooting being in 2002) so Odumba and crew had not invaded yet. The 20/20 show and ABC while not conservative were not bat guano crazy liberal yet so Stossel could do pieces like that. After the 2008 election and media flipped with Stossel leaving ABC 20/20 for FOX. Ain’t no way that piece would fly on 20/20 today ... even though Stossel and crew can pretty much backup everything they reported. Damn mainstream media today sure doesn’t resemble what it was even as recent as 10 years back.

As always, you can lead the horse to water, explain how good it is for him, show him how to drink it but you can't make him drink....
Ignorance of the facts will always rein supreme....

Then I see this piece:

https://www.theatlantic.com/notes/2017/11/on-the-military-and-civilian-history-of-the-ar-15/545660/

There were several logical, cogent, factual responses to the author, but his retort is still pretty much, "oh, yeah, well, I don't believe you."

You are right: their minds are made up and no amount of fact or logic will convince them otherwise.

Oldie but goodie. But, facts don't seem to matter or rather pale in comparison to a good marketing program.
Perception alters reality. A great example is the McDonald's hot coffee case. The public perception and therefore the believed reality is that a woman drove up to a McDonald's drive through, got coffee, spilled the coffee on herself while driving away and won a windfall multi-million dollar lawsuit and got rich. Poor McDonald's.
The reality is that she wasn't driving, she was 79, the coffee was held at 185* (180* liquids will cause full thickness 3rd degree burns in 2-7 seconds), she had major surgery and they settled for substantially less money. Read the case, it will make you angry.
But the public perception (and belief) is different because of the incorrect information or omission of information disclosed by the media. Media can alter "reality".

It seems that the gun control argument has been going on for so long (all of my 68 years) they would have learned something by now but the beat goes on....... and on.....and on.......
I've come to believe the saying that it's not about guns, but all about control.....

Seen where he tried to get a CC permit?

Want to know why this reporter is the way he is?

He was interviewing WWF wrestler Dr. D (death), told hem he believed it was all fake,
that is when Dr. D. slapped him once in the head and a second time with a fist to the head.
WABC tv news NY city.

John Stossel has been around a long time.
It was back in 1985 when he was slapped... To the tune of getting paid 425,000.
Yes, fixed my post, I recall he had hearing damage from the second hit.

Maybe not...but you can drown the stubborn b*stard.

There always have been, and always will be, willfully ignorant people. We are cursed with having to figure out how to live with them.

That son of a B_____ sent me videos when I got hired.
Apparently he's into education now.
I knew nothing of him before

Stossel did?

Yep!
stossel in the classroom is the org he's started

http://stosselintheclassroom.org/

I still have the videos in a filing cabinet with my other dvds, along with other ones that were sent to me by various organizations, but I havent seen any of them yet.
The 20/20 video above is wonderful, but many wont ever believe it IF they even watched it.
