Lockpickinglawyer on YouTube is pretty entertaining. He's a professional locksmith and his listings have a lot to do with the great variety of locks and locking mechanisms and how secure they are (or aren't, as is usually the case).

I found his review of an AR-15 specific locking device humorous both because he's very forthright (as usual) on how useless it is AND that he appears to own an AR-15. "...today I'm going to show you the least secure gun lock I've ever seen". In this one, he shows how easy it is to defeat it, one method using his son's LEGO astronaut.

He also reviews gun vaults, lock boxes, and more.

Two of my favorites are the StopBox (PLEASE never buy one of these outrageously expensive pieces of dung) and the AdirOffice lock box (ditto).

A great many others are reviewed and if nothing else he shows how marketing and reality are often at odds with each other.

His videos are typically just a couple minutes or so long, so definitely not a waste of your time.

Search "lockpickinglawyer gun locks" or similar. He's got a lot more.

We all know such devices aren't very secure in the first place, but it truly amazes me how the locking devices themselves aren't any better than the locks on many of the toy banks and boxes I had as a kid.

And when you consider the prices for these things, it's even more insane.

The StopBox shown? It's listed for $99 on their website. A hundred clams for a plastic gun box that only has SIX two-button combinations.
