if you bidding on a item with with no reserve does the "buy it now" price every go away?

Example

But it now price is 400
Bidding is at 125 with no reserve

Nope, but it might if bidding would stupidly pass the "buy it now" price. Anybody at anytime during the auction can take it with the "buy it now" unless the seller removes that option.
So there is the option of taking the buy it now option down

It's been a year or so since I've sold on GB but I believe the seller can still remove the "buy it now" option even if there are bids already in place, but I may be wrong.

No. Once there is a bid, you can’t change the auction, other than adding pics or text. Used to be able to, but they changed that a couple years ago.

Stupid question coming,, what if no one uses the BIN and the bids go higher than it. I know that will not happen but I was just wondering

I've been on there for over 10 years and have never seen that happen. Doesn't mean it hasn't, just that I have never seen it.

Then the buy now goes away and you do the happy dance, if you are the seller. I’ve seen it happen before.

I don't think I've ever seen that on GB but I have on EBay. The BIN disappeared and the bids kept going.

Ask him to pay “something” today to secure the sale?

What is Gunbrokers payment requirements?
Does the 22nd fall within that time frame?
It's been a while since I got anything there.

Hell, I don't know. This is my first time. I just have a gut feeling next week it will be another excuse. I knew I should have blocked him

It was his first time winning a GB auction. :(

I wouldn't risk it. Word is, once PP hears 'gun', they wash their hands & yer out. If dude's flakin' now, just wait till the deed is done & the flakin' begins in earnest.

The whole deal smells bad to me. The only “sure” way was to ask him to pay something (maybe $100) or so now, but you don’t like that idea. He signs up on GB and then bids like wild for your item. He knows he can’t pay for it promptly at the time he’s bidding but goes on anyway.
  1. I’d ask for a deposit or
  2. demand immediate payment (with the PP risk already mentioned) or
  3. find a way to unwind the deal and resist it.

I'm using the understanding route about his car. I'll start posting copies of the email in the subscribed area. Trying to work my Majic, lol

I'll give slack to someone on here...someone with a good history anyway. Recently sold a rifle that took a month or more to consummate the deal. On GB? Heck no. Report the dude and relist ASAP.

Im just trying to make him feel A little guilty . I know it probably won't work but it's a game to me now. Look in subscribed

I smell a rat and NO to PayPal also. I've allowed extra time for buyers to pay and sellers to ship but it's usually due to weather, like what the Northeast has been dealing with. If he can't pay and wants to bow out that's fine. You can report him or offer it to the next highest bidder. The whole thing smells fishy to me.

I use Paypal all the time. As a Mastercard debit directly from my PP account. And trust me when I say, they DGAF if it's gun related if it is spent thru Mastercard. They even give me cash back for it.

Back when Academy accepted PP directly from the card terminals, I bought countless thousands of rounds of ammo and a few firearms from them. No problems at all.

Yeah, it’s happened. Ask me how I know. It was my first transaction and I paid $5 more than the buy it now looking at bid history in the last 15 minute blocked time period.

Here is PayPal's policy on firearms and related items:

What is PayPal’s policy on transactions that involve firearms?
We don’t allow PayPal members to buy or sell any kind of firearm, whether it’s in working order or not. The same goes for certain firearm parts and ammunition.
For example, using PayPal, you can’t buy or sell:
  • Any firearm, including rifles, shotguns, and handguns, whether they’re for sport and recreation, collectibles, or curio or relic firearms.
  • Firearm parts, including but not limited to receivers and frames, silencers, and kits designed to modify guns so that they fire automatically. High capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators, and camouflaging firearm containers are other items in this category.
  • Ammunition, including propellants like gunpowder or blank ammunition; ammunition or cartridge cases; and primers, bullets, or propellant powder designed for any firearm.
