Intuit Quickbooks Reverses Tens Of Thousands Of Dollars Of Gunsite’s Charges

https://bearingarms.com/tom-k/2018/05/21/intuit-quickbooks-reverses-tens-thousands-dollars-gunsites-charges/

No notice, no real reason.

The only thing I can say about Gunsite on this matter is that as soon as the first call came, the issue maybe should have been examined by any and all those involved in the process and correspondence initiated with Intuit to clarify their policies . Maybe they did, may be they assumed it was handled. Either way it has come to this.

One can only hope Intuit has an overzealous employee that will be disciplined. I kind of doubt it in todays political climate.

Good luck to the purveyors of fine firearms, ammo and accessories out there who may be up against this wall in the future. A big player like Gunsite can probably weather the storm but there are those out there just getting by.

Edit: Sorry for the typo in the title! Not sure how to change it.-gotcha bro-Butter

I used QuickBooks for a while for my processing too. Unfortunately gunsite has no recourse. It says right in the terms of the credit card processing agreement that they will not do business with anyone selling firearms, knives, alcohol, pornography to name just a few banned business types.

Sounds like someone at Gunsite has some 'splainin to do!

However there is the matter of an employee verbally telling them it was ok during their first contact about it.

Personally, I think that I would have found another processor ASAP after the first issue.

The name of the company is "Gunsite"...its in the freakin name...why did it take them this freaking long to realize that it was something to do with "guns" so they couldn't do business.

This is directly out of their Acceptable Use Policy

Regulated MOTO

OK, so Intuit's card processing service is regulated MOTO, correct?

What does that have to do with a private business choosing to not do business with another?

No idea what you are asking. Intuit will not do credit card processing for any business that falls in the Mail Order category if the products they sell are regulated at either the state or federal level, hence they will not do business with a FFL since there business is regulated by both state and federal laws. They were happy to let me keep using their payment solution but I could only use it for face to face and had to swipe the card being used.

This sucks for Gunsite but they have no one but themselves to blame. If you do not read the entire terms of conditions and there is something in there that can come back to bite you in the ass you need to choose a different provider. There are so many card processors out there that there is not need to chose someone with these types of restrictions.

Your answer is the answer. You listed types of transactions with no context.

Same deal. Lone Wolf did not read the processing agreement that they signed. It appears that Quicken choose to run an audit of their accounts for violators of the agreement and took action. The only way I see them in the wrong is if the way they reversed the transactions is outside the agreement but I doubt that it is.

It sucks for these companies but I am not sure why they are using Intuit for card processing. When I owned a business that had a processing account they did not have the best rates or service. It might have changed but by guess would be they chose the easiest option because they run their business on Quickbooks.

It's very difficult to find card processors who will have anything to do with firearms. We got kicked to the curb at least twice by card processors at this forum. One of them I personally set up. I'm not sure how it has worked out that Paypal has tolerated the site.

Funny how the banks and card units do not want anything to do with lawful commerce in firearms but
will gladly take cash deposits from restaurants, strip clubs, car dealers, known drug dealers who launder their money, etc.

Wow, not only is Quickbooks anti America, they're also taking other peoples money. They could have done this legitimately by stating, "we don't want to partner with a firearms company, you have 30 days to move to a new system."
Boycott the lying thieves.
AND returned the money spent on their system to Gunsite!

So it looks like Quick Books is a program any 2nd-A supporter should avoid. Any suggestions for alternatives?

I got some notices from GS about this. Fellas, if they hadn't had some deep pockets, this would have ruined them. This is bad JuJu.

I don't have time to sort out who owns who, but...

In the original article, we incorrectly noted Intuit owned Quicken products. Quicken has been an independent company since April 2016.

Unless they are Walmart, Target, Dick's, CVS, ...... There is not a department store or general retailer that doesn't sell knives.
