I am building an AR-9 pistol and using CMMG bcg/barrel. The parts are extremely hard to find right now and I cannot find a 5" or 8" barrel anywhere. I have found a 16" that I'm considering purchasing and having cut down and rethreaded. Can anyone recommend a smith who can perform this service in the greater charlotte area?

Looks like Ballistic Advantage has both 5" and 8" barrels in stock.

appreciate it, I have seen them online. I would prefer to support a local gunsmith but may end up going that direction. Thanks!
I’ll just second the ADCO recommendation if you end up needing to ship. They’ve done right by me several times so far.

these are not compatible with the CMMG Radial Delay bolt
Interesting system, which barrels are compatible?

I have shipped all mine out for threading, never did get good recommendations for a local smith.

If you are still looking to cut the barrel down, I recommended Del over at Bear Paw Rifles in Pineville in another thread here. Worth calling him up and asking at least. ;)

Just CMMG barrels. They have a locking lug recess system just like regular AR's. barrel extensions do.

I did the same thing with my 45 ACP. Couldn't find a short barrel so I cut down and threaded a 16" .

I just bought a 8 inch one and cut it down to 5 and made a can for it. Things are super hard to find. Only got mine beacuse it was listed wrong online. Every cmmg I've messed with has the barrel nut on stupid tight and they didn't use anti seize
