had a failure to eject and must have had some case expansion.

looked like a double feed so I think the next round helped seat the case more.

damn that sh*t was stuck. had to brace the muzzle against the shooting table and beat the snot out of the grip to dislodge. obviously pointed safely down range.

chamber looked fine and the next hundred rounds or so we're fine.

this first issue w thousands of steel and aluminum

my preference is brass but tulammo was like 7.75 a box at Wally World.

Yeah, every now and then there is a hiccup, but I’ve had the same issues with brass at times. That’s why it’s good for blasting at the range and having fun, but not for any serious use.

Although...ballistic tests I’ve seen with Tulammo 7.62 and .223 are pretty brutal.

Just curious, what gun were you running it in? I've never had an issue with Glocks, but that's about all I shoot as far as pistols go.

As far as pistols go, I've only had issues with steel when I was shooting a 1911 in 45acp with tulammo. I've seen other 1911's not perform well with steel ammo, but they're known to be picky sometimes.

Steel cased 9mm, I've shot lots of, in several different handguns, and I've never had an ammo related issue with it, aside from it generally being dirtier and less accurate.

Steel cased ammo doesn't expand or contract like brass does, and the cases often have a rougher finish. Guns that are sensitive to rough cases can have issues with it.

I shoot tula .223 in AR's all the time, and haven't had a jam or stoppage in an AR with steel cased ammo in thousands of rounds.

I was shooting an old HK USP 9mm. First issue I ever had with the pistol, w any ammo. I've had really good luck up until this point.

I got a couple of boxes of Tula .45 for my kid for Christmas to use in his favorite 1911 of mine. They wont fully seat in the chamber, the profile of the bullet nose bottoming on the rifling seems to be the issue. We'll hang onto the boxes as I plan on replacing that barrel in the near anyways and they might work just fine with a new one.

We have been shooting Tula 9mm and .223 a lot lately, a few thousand out of 6-7 different pistols and a few AR's without a hint of problem.

It might be crap but it's cheap, accurate enough for banging steel and the shells are easy to pick up with a magnet so it works for us.

In another thread I was having trouble with steel case 9mm in my G34 (after around 10k rounds of no real drama). Turned out that a lot of this batch are right at or slightly over the go/no-go gauge size. Not on length, but on diamater. From 'slightly sticky' in the chamber, to binding in the mag to "won't actually fit in the go gauge".

It's wolf 115gr. Not the good stuff with the sealed bullets and primers, but their regular fodder. I dump mine into ammo cans and toss all the cardboard, and have recently started tracking the lot numbers because of this issue. Haven't seen it with Tula yet.

Tula makes their own, wolf makes none of theirs, they're just a rebranding of others so you never know what you're going to get. Stuff made at the Barnaul plant in Russia seems to be consistently good; it's something I'm starting to look for on the boxes.

I’ve had troubles with Tula in a g19 before, but it was really limited to just that 1 box of 50. The stuff just was really underpowered. About 1 in 5 rds would stovepipe b/c it didn’t have enough oomph to cycle the slide. I had 2 boxes that day and all the rds from the other box cycled fine. The commie that loaded that first box must’ve had in in for my capitalist pig self, so he got his revenge by selling me powder puff loads. I have no problem shooting steel case, I just don’t see the point these days when brass is just a $1 or so more a box. Now when it comes to steel case rifle ammo, you do start to have significant savings, or at least you used to more so than in today’s market.

If you shoot enough of it, you will eventually have issues. I shoot Glock and M&Ps and almost exclusively steel cased ammo, unless I find a real good deal on some brass, and I get some minor issues just about every range session.
