I have a camander size 1911 that will rust if you look at it wrong..... especially in the main spring housing. It is blued. I duracoated a rifle several years ago and it worked great. I was wanting to get the 1911 done in FDE. I know cerakote is very popular but its around $200 to have it done. I can get the duracoat for $50. This is a lower end 1911 that I payed $300 for. I love the gun just need it so it wont rust.... lol any input would be great.

And I prefer to do it myself.

Go with what you know. I'd just shoot it with Duracoat, since you've already done it with rifles. Just prep everything twice as much as you think you need to.

Might try some Eezox.

It works pretty good to kill rust.
