I saw this video a little while back and decided to try the mods. It is such a big improvement over the standard Harris Bipod! I used the picatinny mount from badger ordanance and attached it to a small (3 line) picatinny rail I put on my Magpul Hunter X-22.

I am a surprised Harris hasn't incorporated them into their design.

I like it, but the Badger Ordnance part looks like it is more of a permanent mount. The standard set up is good if you are switching between rifles or don't have a rail. I think I'll get ridiculed if I add a rail to my CZ 452.

Very cool.

Harris need to make a stock version like this.
And it needs to be 100$. Can't for the life of me understand why they don't. Also, an M-lok version!

All said and done this is like 160$ !! Seems like a pica version would be easier to make than their stud mount version. Been tempted by the Tip Top bipod for this reason.

Harris need to make a stock version like this.

I started using Harris (?) style Legs years ago and personally thought they sucked because of it coming loose and that extra complicated mount base.

I fully understand UTG / Leapers is is widely unpopular here, but ( again ) years ago I switched to UTG's style of Legs and they already have a Pic Rail included with it.

Also, I believe the vid for the Harris mod states the extra parts to simplify it cost around 30 bucks.

One can buy a UTG style legs for around 20 delivered, done.
One style is BP-79s.

I'm happy with my Atlas QD Knockoffs but I have a Harris on a bolt action that I will have to try some of these mods on.

Arisaka is a sponsor here and they make a great Harris mount

@Will can probably shed some more light on it

Interesting mods! Thanks for posting. That Nut'nfancy dude recommends UTG bipods and uses them, fwiw.

The Badger mount is $68 alone. With the Slok being another 25$, so it seems to be more than 30$. Not sure where guy in video is finding them that much cheaper. You can buy them already assembled for "gasp" 190$. Getting into Atlas territory.

Just wish you could get something like this from harris for around 100.

Been looking at the tip top as well. The one in the link has set screw legs and they have another version (for $98) that has the notched spring loaded legs. Having only experience with the notched legs, is the set screw style better or worse?

IDK. I couldn't find the notched leg 6-9 version on Ammy. Good question. I think I would prefer notched as well.

I need to find a pic rail that mounts to my HMR. Area 419 makes one for $40. Not sure how that compares to others on quality and price.

I didn't know that, not that it would have made a difference to me.

I looked up his review and the only one I found is below.

I have several styles of UTG Branded and copies and most will pivot, which doesn't concern me personally.

I believe some of the newer UTG Bi-Pods have tilt built in as well.

I still have Harris style pods and hate them because of the OEM mounting scheme.

I have three Tip Top bipods. All are better than my Harris for much less money and have the features I needed in the style ordered. All mine have the notched spring loaded legs which I like. I ordered the highest height style on all of them that pans and pivots. I highly recommended Tip Top.

Buying a Harris is a purchase of a well known name only. I actually got the word on these from NCGO forum from a very helpful guy when I was a member.

Edit- I do have one of the three with the non notched spring loaded legs. My shooting partner confirmed this. He knows more about my guns than me. I’m sure I ordered it for some specific reason on a specific rifle.

Has anyone else tried the Caldwell's. I bought the one that resembles the Harris 6" to 9" with notched adjustable Spring legs. Works very good.. Don't remember what it costs but it wasn't nearly what the Harris costs...

Interesting thread. I've been using Harris bipods for years and have never had any problems? They have never come lose or anything? They are a bit of a pain to remove or attach but I can't recall the last time I had to remove one? They are pretty well a permanent fixture.
