I wonder how many people hate their Hi-Points? I have one in .40 and hate to shoot it. It's big, blocky, and just plain ugly. You might be asking yourself then why in the world did you buy one? That's a good question. It was cheap and I got it on impulse. I got it dirt cheap at a local pawn shop. It shoots and so far I really have not had many malfunctions. Maybe a hang up or two but that's it. The trigger is sloppy and it does occasionally do something funky. One thing I will say is for a cheap, nasty pistol it is solidly made. Recoil isn't bad either. For those who do own Hi-Points what was your reasoning and what have your experiences been with it?

My only experience with Hi-Point is with the 995 carbine. I've never owned one the handguns. No problem with the carbine.

Never meet a Hi Point I didn't like. They are not as refined as a 2k Custom Match pistol but they get the job done reliably for 150 or less. Best budget pistol out there.

Really? Wow you must have had some great luck with yours. I always pull to the left when shooting mine. You would think for a budget gun it would be a pos. heck I just throw it in the truck and I guess it's better than being armed with just a sharp stick lol.

I have a 995 carbine and I've had all of the pistols, too. They may not win a beauty contest but they work. People are always quick to bad mouth a Hi Point but when it comes time to sell one, someone is always ready to jump on it.

Was given a HiPoint .45 ACP pistol. Pistol ran great with the one magazine it came with. Eat every lead and jacket round I loaded and cast. Bought a second mag for it as I was using that big bulky gun as a truck gun and second mag had some hang ups. Sold the gun to fund MIL hospital bill.

If it stops working, Hi Point will fix it with just about no questions asked.

I recently bought another carbine and it was missing a screw that held on the rear sight. I contacted Hi Point and they sent me a complete screw set with the multi tool you use for take down.

Sell it if you can and get something you really want and if financially you can afford. I impulsed bought a Taurus and just didn't like it, sold it a few weeks later. We live and learn.

I’ve never seen a Hi Point pistol or carbine that didn’t have occasional issues. Range toy-fine. Self defense forget it. You can have great customer service but that will not help when your confronted with a burglar.

Yeah. I would not rely on a Hi Point no matter what caliber it is in for defending my family. I have a 9mm pistol and a 12 gauge shotgun for that. For me the Hi Point is just clunky. I mean yeah for jugs and other targets it does well. Might just be the one I bought but it doesn't seem to like hollow points.

Almost all Hi Points have trouble with reliability with hollow points. They don’t like cheaper ball ammo either. So basically buy the cheapest gun on the market then feed it top price brass ammo.

I've run plenty of Tula through one of my carbines. Never had a problem.

Yea, no, I'm staying out of this one. I only have first hand knowledge and managed to get a C9 into the hands of over 50 shooters to test.... you can't bring facts and data to an internet argument.

And how many issues with the gun?????????

Agreed. I also have first hand knowledge. Maybe I was just lucky and always got the good ones.
My 995 carbine got passed around at the Battery Oaks meet as well as the carbine of @Oneofsix . Many shooters got to get first hand experience with a Hi Point that day.

Geezer, you must have gotten a good one. Like I said in my first post mine was the cheapest I could find at the pawn shop. It was dirt cheap. I'm sure a lot of folks have had good experiences. I don't like the way it feels in my hand. Even tried to "Frankenstein" up it a little but to no avail. Not going to get precision shots. If someone breaks into my house maybe they will be laughing too hard to notice I have pulled a 9mm on them. Lol.
