Have an M&P 15-22? Inspect it NOW!

Given how they've been dumping them on the market recently ($299), I'll bet the phone lines will be jammed. You can order it online. Just insert the S/N and the order shows as N/C.

Thats what I did...less than two minutes and done lol.

And yes, guys, that's what she said, too lol

Is this related to the whole project appleseed banning issue?

It sounds like the same issue (firing out of battery), which is what caused Project Appleseed to not allow them on the firing lines starting in....2014 or 2015, I believe.

Thanks for the heads up on this, will order tonight

Thanks for letting us know- wish they would just tell us what the tolerance is so we don't have to send for a guage...
Yeah, I guess they don’t trust us to mic the depth ourselves. First one of us to receive one, please mic it and post the thickness.

Seems to be a bit of a delay with the email confirmation of the order: that is, usually, I've found that automated email replies in response to an order are received in under a minute or so. Same for others?

I got nuttin.

Does Appleseed still prohibit them? I was just telling someone about their ban yesterday but I never knew the reason.

If you have the box there is a date code on it. Right under the M&p on the side of the box withmthemserial number

It’s safe to say that if you own an M&P15-22 as of right this moment, your gun could be affected. They said anything manufactured prior to February 2019. You’d have to have one literally hot off the press to not meet that criteria!

Yes back in 2016, they replaced the spring with lighter tension with blue marking to identify them.
My rifle has the blue spring from the factory, got to dig it out of the back of the safe tonight.

And yet I went through several today that were fine date wise. Yes most are affected, but check the date code if you bought it recently. Might get lucky

Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered mine. It’s so old it’s from before they had threaded barrels. I had to have that done locally.

...and make sure you get your belt replaced.

Weird. I got this when I checked my SN:

...but it did still let me place an order for no charge, even after supplying my SN again.

In case you’re wondering what the serial checker looks like when you ‘ping’...

Not the type of contest I like to have my number drawn for!

Thanks @Jeppo for the heads up. Going to send this out to my local club as well. I several people with these.

Wife called and ordered her gauge. Had to give her serial number over the phone.

Just bought 1 of these a couple months ago when PSA had a package deal. Amazingly accurate with CCI 36gr mini mags. Have to check the SN on line. My guess is they dont have a clue which ones are out of spec. They hope the customer will order the gage and do the checking for them.

I had mine fired out of battery when my son was with me a couple years ago. He was behind to the right of me and was hit by shrapnel. Neither got hurt but it was a great lesson on why we wear safety glasses. Sent it off to repair and sold it one we got it back. The main reason I had that one was for him to shoot and I could no longer trust it.

That’s where mine came from. My serial pinged. I haven’t had a chance to shoot mine yet.

I plugged in the serial for my sbr and ordered the gage.

I have the M-lok version, too. It hasn't been fired, but I'll check it, as well.

My SN came back as affected by recall. I ordered gage. Shoots too damn good to send back and have them doink it up. Ive got a 10/22 Chief AJ custom from 20+ years ago. Old WW Power Points do not seat against the bolt face properly and will on occasion split a cartridge rim on firing and spit out particles and hot gas. Only happens with that ammo. Wonder why its no longer made? Hmm...

I bought mine back in 2013 new and registered the warranty with S&W, so they sent me a notice.

So how many of these things do you think they'll have to send out? How many of these rifles do you think are out there?

What i wonder about, with my limited mfrg QC experience, is that you are supposed to QC a batch of parts with gages for this very type of thing. Typically you dont gage every part in a batch but you gage enough to know whether to reject them or not. Somebody(s) should get fired.

But, everyone knows only Taurus has not QC. ;)

I’m curious what the gauge will show on mine. It’s well before a 2019 model, but the SN didn’t flag. Wonder how they determine which ones had the issue...certain models? I would’ve thought it was a common part even between different versions of the pistol/rifle.

My rifle was made in 2012, got it new before the Colorado theater shootings, it has blue spring, never had any trouble with ut.
Test gauge ordered online.

Midway lists the mags at $11.99.
