Have you been shot at?

Wife #1. She was absolutely serious!!!!!
Oh my giddy aunt!!
Though I admit I used to try to think of a way to "do away with" my ex. Couldn't figure out how to do it without ending up in prison, so he got to live.
So the wife...i assume she's tucked away somewhere that she can't shoot anyone again???

I was hit in the thigh by a shotgun when I was 12 and robbed and shot in the abdomen (through and through) and in the leg still have the bullet in my leg when I was 18 and been stabbed twice when I was 22
You need to be careful-er!!! Maybe a suit of armor?

shot at is still shot at, intentional or unintentional.
lol at southern visitors!

Well I am pretty sure they were from parts south of CA and the US/Mexico border. I told a co-worker of Mexican descent at the time and he said I made a wise choice hauling ass out of there. His bet is that had I gone the other way my body would have been found in a CA orchard somewhere.

She was completely in the right insofar as justification. Only through quiet, careful reasoning, am I here at this keyboard. Whole thing lasted less than 30 seconds. We stayed together for several more years. I never had to wonder what NOT to do again....

I lived south of our borders as a very young child, and the parents worried about someone kidapping the little blond American girl!

Well now all you habe to domis move to Phoenix to get kidnapped. No need to go all the way south. Yippee!
Well, I loved living "south"... it was home for awhile!
Phoenix sounds like it would be waaaay too hot for me! I need a place that stays below 70* all the time and has NO humidity. I'm sure dry heat would be better, but doesn't it get in the 100*+ range a lot out there? No thanks!

My old shooting buddy was a cop. He got shot at across Western Blvd. He was on 1 side of the road and the shooters were on the other shooting at him thru traffic. Nobody caught a bullet thankfully.

Never shot but had a revolver pulled on me basically at point blank range, close enough I could tell the cylinders were loaded over a small indiscretion I had many years ago. I pointed out that I was not the only one running around with her, but was informed the other guy was okay cause it was family (a cousin!) God, have to love living in the South :p Fortunately it was de escalated shortly there after.

Lol...indiscretion!
I've only ever lived in the South, except for waaay South, but people really are strange here! Don't even get me started on drivers in NC vs VA!

Yes. Twice, but it was not intentional. (Dumbasses shooting cans in a pond and dumbasses shooting without a backstop and ricocheted off the ground and all around us.)

A couple of times I was still down range when idiots started shooting from the firing line. I could hear the rounds impacting nearby. My left ear is going bad because some once started shooting before I was back to the the line. Then there was the time in my kitchen when I hear the hypersonic crack of 3 rounds over the house followed by the distant boom-boom-boom of the rifle. Had everyone hit the deck until it seemed clear. This was in the city. I meant to check the roof for damage, but never got around to it.
I did go through an exercise once where we were placed forward of the firing line as someone shot past us to give us the experience of close quarters live fire. ;)

If BB guns do count, I've been in my share of BB gun wars, notibly due to some neighbor kids. Learned a lot about tactics and trajectories. :D

That part about having someone shoot near you for you to get an " experience ".....makes me shudder!

Have had the pleasure of hearing bullets whiz by on two separate occasions when I was much younger. That sound is distinct.

It was very controversial. That instructor was openly criticized for it. But, his point was that it was an innoculation to getting shocked by it in the real world. Because, you're going to be in that situation when confronting an adversary. We also ran a hot range. His point being that we were playing big boy games with big boy rules. It was a time to be serious and focused, not casual and carefree. It was an attitude shared by all in attendance.

Damn! Sounds like you used to hang out in some nice places?

Line of duty....one of these days I need to have a conversation with someone in law enforcement/military to ask why they chose this particular job. I know some of y'all got drafted, but I've never really asked why people want to do this job!
And thanks to all who do!
I've known a couple of veterans pretty well, including Mom, but the one from the Viet Nam era doesn't like talking too deeply about it, so I've never asked the other one (Korea, maybe? VN maybe, or both?) a lot of questions.
and I'm very glad it wasn't fatal, needless to say. But sorry it happened at all!
I did 30 years in the Army. It's all I've ever wanted to do. I grew up hearing my Grandfather's WWII stories, he was a tanker in Patton's 3rd Army, 3rd Armor Division, Spearhead. When you wear the uniform and take Uncle Sugars's check, you go and do he he asks. I've been shot at many times with many different weapons. Rockets, mortars, bullets and IEDs. I was shot at one time in a church grave yard while the girl I was dating at the time was at a wedding rehersal. I was walking, looking at tombstones and a drunk from the house across the street started popping off rounds thru the grave yard! I ducked down behind a headstone and hollered! Jackass was plastered and had a 30/30 rifle. I've had a couple times that I've pulled my gun, as I'm not always in the greatest places. I spend a lot of time by myself in the woods and mountains and sometimes when I cant sleep, I wonder around town in the middle of the night.

I had this experience with probably the same instructor. It cost him his writing gig at American Handgunner. Still proud to call him my friend today.

A chemically paranoid friend of mine back home once took a couple of shots at me with a handgun when I knocked on his door. He'd been awake for several days. Fortunately for me he was so wired he couldn't hit a house. I have never run so fast in all my life.

A good friend and I were out in the woods with rifles 2o+ years ago. I was about 25-30 yards from him when he shot a large tree beside me about chest high. I looked over at him and he was still aiming at me, so I quickly took cover behind that tree. I don't recall exactly what I said but I remember he wouldn't give me a straight answer as to why he's shooting at me. He shot again, hitting the tree. I remember trying to decide if I should shoot back. Did my friend lose his mind and he's trying to kill me or is he extremely ignorant about guns, I asked myself. His marksmanship was piss-poor so I was genuinely confused. Mine was not and I really didn't want to kill my friend if he's just a dumbass. After three or four shots he lost interest and moved on. I quietly kept my guard up and him in front of me for the short remainder of the outing. We've never been shooting together again and I'm generally leery of shooting with people I don't know well.

A friend and I were shot at by a hunter while walking up an ice covered road to get to a radio tower. It was not passable by truck. All of a sudden we heard what sounded like a lightning bolt go between us. We were dressed in blue winter coats and wearing reflective vests.
We hit the deck and yelled "We are people, don't shoot."
I guy yells from the woods, "Oops, sorry. I thought you were a deer.".
It wasn't even rifle season yet.

After that, we took ATV's in the winter.

Yummy! Deer taste sooo good, maybe the guy was HOPING you were deer!

Once during an argument, a dude(driver)pulled a sawed off shotgun and was threatening me(standing beside the passenger door)and his significant other tried to grab the gun and it went off. - I was in high school

Once I was hanging out with a questionable “friend” for entertainment value, when a guy who’s wife had been impregnated by said friend shot at the car he and I were in. I was probably 20’ish.

Once was walking not far from the edge of the woods near a road, when some freaking idiot decided it was a good time to start shooting the street sign that was directly located between their vehicle and myself. Was hearing the crack before the boom and them ripping and zinging through the branches and trees around me.

You people on this forum sure do lead "interesting" lives!

If this and BB guns count then, yes I have.

My friends and I used to have bb gun wars out in the woods when we were in grade school. The only rule was we could only pump our guns once but it still raised huge welts when we got hit. One of my buds got a bb stuck in his thigh. I picked it out with my pocket knife and the games continued. It's a miracle nobody lost an eye!

We used Red Ryder's. It's good lever gun training.

Dude.....what in the actual eff? What was his problem????

Shot at while driving in the car when I was younger. Some crazy thought it was a good idea to drive around and shoot at cars that he passed. Bullet ended up hitting and bumping off the hood of our car. I remember it being very loud when it happened but I was also only 10 and had not been around guns much at that time.

I think I would have dropped him and ended the game after that second shot. One might have been poor safety habits, two and it is game on.

Hope you have found beter friends and lost that asshat.

This is some crazy shiitake. Glad you survived to tell the stories. This and other stories in this thread are why a carry concealed.

This is my waking nightmare when I’m deer hunting on public land. Last season, I saw someone take a wild shot on a deer 25 yards away - totally missed. If I hadn’t seen the orange vest behind a tree, I would have walked in front of him/her and spooked the deer. Now I choose spots that are at least a mile hike from the trailhead.
