I don’t remember the story, but knowing you, I’ll take some creative license liberties and create my own story.

Rude employee: *ignores Burt because he looks like he works for a living*

I asked to be banned once. Long story but it ended with "might as well ban me". Well they did. Their loss and I knew it. I pissed the money off by offering to help people for free. Not going into anymore details though. That was years ago.

I believe he was there with his father. The rest sounds about right from what I remember.
 
A quick search reveals he threatened an employee to meet him in the parking lot. No other details.

a car forum years ago

Me and my friend were very active, and there were great folks there, but the owner was a jerk whowasnt even into cars anymore and sought to make monthly revenue off the members.
You got, like, 50 messages total in PMs(total, sent and received), OR pay $10 a month and it'd bump up to a thousand.
We were like, "dude, it costs you NOTHING to increase PM numbers, why charge?" and he got upset.

In the end we offered to buy the site from him, offered a fair amount, he replied with "no" and told us it meant nothing to him and was worthless, waste of time, but he wouldnt sell. We posted that and he got real mad.
I made one last post, saying we were leaving and would, likely, be getting banned. But posted my information and told folks to email me or my buddy, that we had something in the works.
Yeah, banned minutes later, but they kept the post up (thats cool of them!)

We got together that night and started making plans. Within a week we had a NC based forum (though it was 'open,' much like this one here CFF, to anyone on the east coast - most were Triad based or hot spots where we had friends (Raleigh, Charlotte, Havelock/Marine base)
It was fun. It was 'successful.' meaning people signed up, posted, and it flourished for a long time.

Eventually, unfortunately, we had a server issue and lost EVERYTHING.
So we had to rebuild. Most returned, some got mad and didnt, but 90% did.

A few months later - crash. That one killed us. We switched companies, but it was too late, people lost confidence.

But, man, it was fun. We had shirts, had two Dyno Days, regional meets etc

I only searched 'dunhams' by you, I saw three posts, and all I saw was what I posted. I didnt read further, I didnt dig into each thread.

Daytona Beach, FL
Outback Steakhouse, January of 2002.

Went down with my dad, he took me to the Rolex 24Hrs of Daytona.
On that Saturday evening and, long story short, I got really mad at the server. He made repeatedly was a jerk to me about what I ordered (soup and salad), and we, my father and I, hinted at the fact we were getting annoyed. Finally, when he brought my soup and dropped it just before getting it to the table (not high, maybe a centimeter, not a lot, but still...) and made a gross-out face when he said, "your...soup..." I asked for the manager.

While talking to the manager he was mouthing things at me, nothing bad, but I remember him mouthing "im sorry" and in my 20 year old mind that was the trigger, which I replied with "Im going to f__king kill you!" lol wow, what an idiot I was. I blame the mass amount of hardcore and the hardcore scene for wanting to be violent. Punk never made me violent, but hardcore...yeah. Put on a Hatebreed tee (or Terror, Prayer For Cleansing, If Hope Dies, As I Lay Dying, Bleeding Through etc) and instantly add 20lbs of muscle...or so you think lol

Anyway, she said, "Yall got to go!"
And as we got the parking lot they stopped us, said we were banned and that th eguy was fired, he'd done the same multiple times including just a week before.

Ive been back several times, not as renegade as the poster that went back the next day, mine were always a year or two apart, but yeah.

I was dumb, I was overly aggressive and Id let this man get to me by his dumb comments about my food.

I say all of that to offer a peace offering @Burt Gummer , I hope you do not see this as an attack on you (I think you do, I apologize), but was legit question to start and then a legit question to ask for what happened. Ive since (since my above post) went back to the three threads I mentioned, one being this one - I didnt check it, but read through the other two threads...I didnt see the story, just the part about the parking lot).
So, yeah, we've all been there. I dont mean to 'make someone look bad,' as Ive done the same thing.
 
No, but XBOX forcibly changed my name from SmokierRommel to FancyColtsomenumbers because "Rommel" got somebody all upset.
 
I didn't get banned but I voluntarily left a forum and told them I would never go back ever again. It was a VMAX motorcycle forum. Talk about personal attacks. They allowed it on that forum and the attacks made some that have happened on here, before a mod stopped it of course, look very tame in comparison.
 
I’ve been banned from a few Phillies and Nationals forums but that’s honestly why I was there, I was trolling hard as all get out.

I got banned from a NC Hunting group on Facebook. Guy complained about dogs being all over his hunting land and there was no evidence that they belonged to anyone so I told him to kill ‘em. Somebody mentioned that they possibly could belong to someone so I told him to follow 3S and the. I was gone.
 
Completely forgot I’d gotten banned on NCGO. Was going through deleting old pics sometime in the last couple days and found this screenshot:

I’d also updated all my posts, every single one, to just say “Canadians”. They changed my username from BigWaylon to 8115 at the same time. You see the mention of “Anti-2A signature” as the reason? I updated my sig there and at C S C with this:

Don’t think I was actually banned at the second one.


ETA: just went back to check something on NCGO and my username is a different number...not sure if it randomly changes or what; the NFA section there is dead, and some of the info being passed along is so bad it’s not funny

Yup, a hot rod forum called Big Block Dart.

Still have no idea why.

Seems From others also that hot rod people get hot under the collar easily.
 
I got a temp ban here by making a suggestion to someone to change their handle to Richard Cranium. He was being a jack wang to others.

As I stated in the username thread I have been banned from a few sites over the years. The Firingline, The High Road and The Sig Forum. I used to have a problem with authority and liked to argue against their ignorance. :p

Absolutely. Multiple times from the same site. Rewind 20 years during the fast&furious fueled import scene, I was a moderator on a site called ImportsNC…we were a sister site to CarolinaHondas, and while all inclusive, we tended to snub the Honda boys for the ricers they were.

I trolled the site daily..,,getting banned by the lower mods and reappearing hours later via the site owners who got a kick out of my antics. I did finally turn it down a notch and made one of the most epic threads on the forum. It was a completely fictitious, 4K+ post thread about a 97 civic, 1.6 sohc vtec automatic dubbed the Shitvic.

When the traffic dwindled and the owners pulled the plug on both websites, I was less worried about the 14k posts on ImportsNC and more about the loss of the most epic troll thread of the era on Carolina Honda’s.

I mentioned the charging for PMs thing on this page upstream - it was INC.
I was on there for a while, didnt mesh with the owner, he said he didnt care about the site, me and my buddy tried to buy it, no go. So we started our own. INC had a good thing going in the 2004ish period, didnt know it closed down, never looked into it afterwards

The buddy I mention, he actually did one of the logos for INC
 
Yep. I was banned from a local auto racing track forum for telling the truth about a DQ.
The forum lit up with posts supporting me (and the truth) and they ended up banning a bunch of the people.
Many came back on under different names and were banned again.

The forum shut down about 2 months later.
Someone told me that it only had about 10 legitimate accounts.
 
Got booted off a hunting forum years ago for standing up for a few members that were telling the truth about something and were banned. Finally told everyone on there to go _____ themselves. I can't even remember what it was all about but it wasn't a big deal. Afterall, the internet is a big place and there are plenty of other places to hang out.

I have also banned some forums myself. Delete everything on my pc, including passwords, and after a while if I want to go back I have to google the site to find it again. Again, no big deal.
 
Got banned from a facebook group called "Adventure Touring in North Carolina". The guy who created the group turned out to be a complete narcissist. He gave me a "warning" because I joined another facebook group that had a similar name and interests. I told him to consume a bag of Richard's, and the bastard banned me. Hey Keith,..... eat me 🙂
