The fabric is coming off of the foam on the headliner of my work truck, I’d like to be able to just glue the old back into place, anybody have a recommendation for adhesive? Windows are left down in the summertime quite a bit so it’s getting humidity and wind, I’d rather not have to replace it if I don’t have to.

3m headliner and fabric spray should do the trick.

Edited to add: be sure to read instructions. I think you spray both pieces that you want to stick together, wait till dry (~30 seconds), then rub together.

Good luck

Yea the spray glue will get you along for a little while, but you should really consider recovering it. The foam underneath the fabric is disintegrating and there isn’t much for the glue to adhere to.

Replacing the headliner isn’t all that difficult if you are slightly handy.

I have been using thumbtacks.
That’s what I’m using up around the windshield so I can see lol

awesome! I’ll check it out, thanks for the tip.

Very difficult with the foam breaking down and causing the problem in the first place.
But, I have used 3m ‘77’ spray glue to work in a pinch.
all that foam is turned into powder

i’m trying to put as little money in this truck as possible right now, 350,000 miles, all very hard used hauling sheet rock around another 50,000 miles and it’s time for a new truck. I hope the spray stuff will get me through

I tried to use Elmer’s adhesive spray on both of ours. Didn’t work.

Staple gun did. 😁

There are some excellent videos on youtube about this.
Bssically a good repair requires the headliner to be pulled, carefully prepped, and new material glued down. Labor intensive but do-able at home.

If I’m gonna pull it, might as well just replace it with a new one.

I think I probably got about 20,000 dua-fast staples in my truck right now🤣
Ours was both vehicles (hers worse than mine), and along the front edge right at the windshield in both instances.

I think I put 5-6 staples in mine, and a dozen or so in hers. This was after trying spray adhesive a half dozen times and tape once. Can’t even see the staples from inside the car.

If you do not have a overhead console and you want cheap you can just pull it out and usually have just color of vehicle painted metal. Have done that in the past and just put trim back and looked much better than the headliner i had tried to stick back but again its depend if you have a overhead console

I had a 93 Bronco full-size that I bought with a friend to build as a trail truck. The headliner was coming down so we pulled it down and it had beautiful pristine forest green paint underneath. We left it off, it was the nicest paint on the truck.

My truck is doing the same thing. I haven't done it yet but I'm thinking to spray the hell out of the foam. Just saturate it totally with spray glue and after it dries then come back and spray both surfaces and after they tack up put them back together.

You have to stabilize the foam or it's just temporary.

I've used Elmer's glue sticks before and it works well for a while.
