For those of you that feel the Covid 19 response has been pure overkill, you would have been quite proud of Lincoln Co this weekend. I had to run out for a few things, and there were people every-friggin-where. I haven't seen crowds like this in Charlotte in a month. I never sit through multiple cycles of stop lights here, but did today. Restaurant parking lots were full up with curb side service, and fast food was backed into traffic, even at Wendy's. I must have driven past a dozen different gatherings and parties with 15+ cars in the driveway/right of way. Lowes was parking at the rear of the lot only. The little hardware stores were parking off site. Pine needles were sold out everywhere. Boger City air was hazy with smoke from cookouts. I think every last person out here was grilling. I didn't even have the balls to drive by Walmart, but Tractor Supply was lined up all the way back to the dibbie cages.

I really don't know what more they expected when they made folks stay home for a couple weeks then gave them 1200 bucks right when our 4 days of spring started.

I'm ambivalent about the whole thing. I suspect there will be a large spike in cases here in a week or so. Or maybe not; I'm just as damn clueless as all the damn experts here, on the news, at the WHO, in political office and everywhere else. Apparently working in epidemiological modeling has about the same credentials as news weather cretin.

Hickory seemed pretty busy too. Ace hardware, Lowe’s foods, and Starbucks. Did some hiking at the club with no one around then picked up a few things.

Yesterday, I rode over to Baytown to meet my buddy from Katy. The Buc-ees in Baytown is about halfway for us both. We joked that we would bring a couple of chairs, get a sandwich from Buc-ees and eat off the tailgate in the parking lot. That's exactly what we did. I enjoyed an excellent brisket sandwich and 2 1/2 hour visit.

The funny thing, other people were doing the exact same thing as us. About 30 yards from us were 2 SUV's parked with a space between them and it looked like two families enjoying some lunch and a visit. We could see over in another corner of the parking lot that 2 couples were sitting and eating on the tailgates of 2 pickups. Things like this were going on all over the parking lot.

For those that aren't familiar with a Buc-ees, they are a Walmart size convenience store with a huge parking lot.

When the spike doesn't happen, what will be the excuse?
Number of new cases peaked about a week ago, deaths lag behind but should start dropping soon.

New info suggests the lockdown measures have had no effect on transmission. Countries who did nothing had the same rate of infection as those that went hard-core lockdown.

New info also suggests that ventilators are not helping, actually hurting. Seems it may be a blood problem causing the blood to not pick up oxygen from the lungs, not a lung problem.

UPDATE: It IS a lung problem, but the lungs are being clotted and forcing more air in does not help, can actually cause damage so again, ventilators are not the correct treatment.

Seems "the experts" have been wrong about pretty much everything.

In this video they go into the graphic details of it:

Immunity, everyone will have suddenly developed an amazing immunity.....
Like the Newspaper guy hired to up circulation. He told the Editor to print Bold headlines...DEADLY STORM IS BEARING DOWN ON THE ISLAND!!! The editor said, "Then what happens when it doesn't get here?" The salesman said to print..ISLAND SPARED BY DEADLY STORM!!!

It's the size of the font that sells. While I prefer Fox News, I don't like that Every report is headed by FOX NEWS ALERT!

Most of that was over my head but what I got out of it was that the virus causes coagulation in the lungs which ventilators do not help, forcing more air into a lung with no room for it would just cause more damage. Also the Fed is screwing us as usual.

When did you last hear any news that wasn't "BREAKING NEWS"?? Regardless of when they first aired it....

People are figuring out how to be social and cautious at the same time. I think its a good thing. We weren't all going to become hermits overnight... its against our nature.

@Millie is arriving any time now to shoot. We'll feed her cabbage&taters&onions, and Pork and Rice. BUT she'll have to eat sitting on the pump house. DISTANCE ya know?
You an' Millie both are High Risk... jus' sayin'!

I saw very few folks being cautious, and most were pretty far up each other's rear ends. I sincerely doubt standing exactly 6 feet apart has on iota of effect in regards to the spread of the virus, but it goes a long a way towards me wishing a flaming piece of space debris would barrel through someone's skull.

So how close are we to hearing about the first guy to get shot for sneezing on someone?

There is some speculation that the thing may have been going around much earlier than anybody knew and consequently far more people have already had it. When they tested the people on that cruise ship a whopping 18% were positive with no symptoms. That would be good to bring the mortality rate down but scary because it means it was far more infectious than we thought.

So, when MaryPoppins.guv lifts a Stay at Home order, will we be required to go outside?

When The Guardian Angelstate graciously allows restaurants to reopen, will it become illegal to cook & eat at home?

When MommyLandistan permits private business to operate again, will Official Security Agents walk in your door, collar you, and drag you to an office full of other drones?

When the Intelligent Science Agency declares the Almighty Curve flat enough, will hand sanitizer & baby wipes be banned for OTC sales, available by prescription only?

Or would a disciple of Media still be able to stay home, wipe hisself sixways from Tuesday, remain on an unemployed slope toward poverty?

Y'know; could it be a choice to continue self-isolation instead of under threat of being arrested for solo recreational paddleboarding 500 yards away from the nearest other human?
