For those of you that feel the Covid 19 response has been pure overkill, you would have been quite proud of Lincoln Co this weekend. I had to run out for a few things, and there were people every-friggin-where. I haven't seen crowds like this in Charlotte in a month. I never sit through multiple cycles of stop lights here, but did today. Restaurant parking lots were full up with curb side service, and fast food was backed into traffic, even at Wendy's. I must have driven past a dozen different gatherings and parties with 15+ cars in the driveway/right of way. Lowes was parking at the rear of the lot only. The little hardware stores were parking off site. Pine needles were sold out everywhere. Boger City air was hazy with smoke from cookouts. I think every last person out here was grilling. I didn't even have the balls to drive by Walmart, but Tractor Supply was lined up all the way back to the dibbie cages.
I really don't know what more they expected when they made folks stay home for a couple weeks then gave them 1200 bucks right when our 4 days of spring started.
I'm ambivalent about the whole thing. I suspect there will be a large spike in cases here in a week or so. Or maybe not; I'm just as damn clueless as all the damn experts here, on the news, at the WHO, in political office and everywhere else. Apparently working in epidemiological modeling has about the same credentials as news weather cretin.
