1.5 years old. New heat pump and air handler. This morning nothing is coming on. No outside unit or air handler fan. I checked breaker and gfi. Any idea? It is a Ruud brand.

Aahhh. I bet your tstat has batteries is in. Correct?

If so take the batteries out and see if there is anything on the screen.

This sounds awfully familiar

I agree with @LeeMajors line of thinking of looking for a loss of power. One thing that came to mind, is on the system at my parent's house, if the condensate pump isn't working and trips the level sensor, it cuts power to the system and the t-stat reports this as a loss of communication with the system. The condensate lines can get plugged up pretty easily, though this is more of a AC issue than a heat issue.

I found the 3amp fuse to be blown and replaced it. Popped again, so I called a local guy that I have met riding SxS's.
He came out Sun AM in the rain, found a short somewhere in the wires from the stat and outdoor unit.
So far, so good. Charged me $65. I gave him $80.

Thanks for your help @LeeMajors, you pointed me in the right direction.

Fuse did its job. Fine business. Glad you found the root cause and are good to go.
