Hello, everyone. I recently moved to Hendersonville from rural Pennsylvania. Really looking forward to living here. I brought my guns with me, and look forward to shooting and meeting other shooters. I've hunted most of my life, but seem to do that less and less each year.

I have my carry permit from PA (which appears to be valid in NC), and intend to get a NC one soon. I started looking into finding some shooting ranges, and am a bit surprised how few there are near Hendersonville. I prefer outdoor ranges, and especially like to shoot steel knockdown or spinner targets with handguns. I also like to shoot sporting clays, though I don't do it often enough to get better. I'd like to try skeet sometime. Any suggestions on where to shoot would be appreciated.

Greetings and welcome to CFF! Happy to have you on board with us.

I'm sure some of our members from your neck of the woods will be along with some suggestions.

Howdy neighbor. I'm also here in Hendersonville, well between H'ville and Brevard.

Look into VOD Tactical which is out near Old Fort. @VOD Tactical is a sponsor here and a heck of a nice guy. His range has 2 pistol bays with a bunch of steel and rifle range out to 700 yards. There is also the Asheville Rifle & Pistol Club, but that is really all about square known distance ranges and exclusively paper punching.

Welcome to CFF enjoy the forum

I'm just down the hill in Forest City. Howdy neighbor. And....

One thing to be careful of...unless PA offers a non-resident permit, your permit may no longer be valid once you’re here.

Thanks for the tip on VOD Tactical. I looked it up, and it's about 50 minutes away. Not bad for every once in awhile, but a little far for routine practice/stress relief. I'm sure I'll check it out sometime.

Love your Avatar, BTW. Huge Monty Python fan myself.

PA does not differentiate between resident and non-resident licenses. The same license is issued to both residents and non-residents.

So... Not sure where that leaves me now that I am a NC resident with a NC drivers license. Not being a lawyer, I'm not exactly clear on NC regulations.

Welcome neighbor from Pickens County SC, just over the line from you.

What brought you down this way?

My wife hates winter weather! We searched out a bunch of areas throughout southern VA, NC, SC and GA, and Hendersonville was the winner. I hate hot, humid weather, so moving farther south wasn't appealing.

We found Hendersonville to be very nice, with friendly people. Of course, we moved just in time for Covid, so haven't been able to get out much.

Welcome and thanks for joining up with us here. I'm hoping you'll find this to be the very best internet hangout ever and please reach out to others to join up with us here also.

And thank you for posting inside this thread so all of us can extend a welcome and get to know you !

We're SO MUCH MORE than a firearms forum !
