I used to have a colt Delta elite years ago which I enjoyed shooting. I decided to go after another 10 mm.

I have a line on her third Gen Smith and Wesson 1086 but it is big $$$

Pros: I love 3rd Gen Smiths, DAO triggers are fantastic, cool factor/collectibility

Cons: I could buy two Glocks for the price, 9+1 capacity

The other option I'm thinking about is a much more practical Glock 20 SF.

Pros: cost, 15+1 capacity, it's a Glock

Cons: it's a Glock

I really think I would enjoy either one. Both of them will hold their value close to what I pay for them I suspect.

Just did a transfer for a customer of a Ruger SR1911 in 10mm, was a pretty nice gun.
my only hesitation for the 1911 based 10 mm is that I have gotten away from carrying anything that has a manual safety on it. my muscle memory for manual safety is not good enough.

I am a fan of those 3rd Gen. Smiths, but for me it would be what trigger do you feel most comfortable with. No doubt you can get used to the DAO, but if you are used to the Glock trigger, then it will feel more natural. If I had the money though, it would be the 1086. :)

I have and like both triggers. I have several double action only third Gens and really love it but I also have several blocks and I'm perfectly comfortable with them as well.

it may come down to feelz and dealz

The 3rd gens are not going to get any cheaper. Yeah you could buy 2 Glocks for the price, but then you have 2 Glocks and no 3rd gen.....and it’s a Glock. Don’t get it twisted, I like Glocks. I EDC a G32 and a G29. There are far better choices in 10mm than a Glock. I have a G20 and a G29. Looking for any 10XX 3rd gen I can afford. Can’t ever find any. That’s why I have the Glocks. Plus I am used to carrying a Glock so I can switch between the 32 and 29. Ann boils down to your preference. Watch full power 10mm loads in certain weapons also. They turn into an exploded parts view fast.

Truth.

My 3rd Gen 9mm are not really collectible pieces (yet), but the 10mm really seem to be going that direction.

Too late....

Glock 20 with lone wolf 6" barrel. Designed for the 10mm and I think softer shooting than the others

That Hunter is slick, but I'd just do a nice 1911. Especially if this is mostly a range toy.

Sold all the 10mm, 45’s and 9mm Gen 3’s two years ago. Sold the 4” and 6” 610’s long ago. I guess I should have kept them a little longer. LOL. Still have a DW 1911 and a DW Commander Classic BT, A Glock 20 and a 20SF with a Lone Wolf 6” slide. Use to hunt with them and will again someday.

I own several handguns. Only one is a Glock, a G20.
Change the trigger out and install Wolf springs. You can shoot 40's in it and buy a 357Sig barrel for it. You can't do all that with the other choices.
It ain't as flashy as those Colts and Smiths. But I have plenty of other flashy and pretty handguns. The G20 is for working, not a beauty pageant pistol.
