Two options are:
Swfa 10x42 ss $299
Swfa 10x42 tactical $399 (think only dif is the side focus ??)
Primary Arms 4-14x44 FFP acss. $280

Both scopes have great reticles. The PA seems to have things in it that most shooters won't use but having FFP is nice.

Any reason I should choose one over the other?

I'll start...

What rifle?
What is the purpose?
What are you coming from and what don't you like about it?

100-400 yards. Possibly longer in the future. Will be a hunting/target rifle.
There's a vortex crossfire ii on it now, just want something with a better reticle and better suited for 308

Why this one? I know sightron and that they make good stuff.

I have the S-TAC in 4-20x

The glass is actually amazing for the price. The features are hard to find in a similar package for a competing price. The turrets have to most solid and distinct adjustments out of other more expensive scopes I have like Leupold and Vortex PST. It’s got an integrated throw lever (not a huge deal just a plus). The reticle is thin enough you can hunt or shoot Precision with it. Lifetime warranty.

I think Im going with the S-tac 2.5-17x56. Its more $$ but will be worth it. Sales for about $929 but with their military discount, Its under 600.

Awesome! Their glass is surprisingly good. I was sold on my after looking through it versus higher end models (SIII and some others) as well as having features not generally available on “affordable” scopes

I believe the S-tac i mentioned, has better glass than the lower power S-tac. They have a FFP SIII for $80 more... but I dont really need FFP i guess.
