I got a new Savage B17 17 HMR for small game I have a raccoon issue. I would like to hear from anyone who may have this caliber and what scope they have Pros & Cons. I am not looking for a 400.00 scope
thanks

Unless you plan to shoot it a couple hundred yards anything you mount on it you can make work.

What has your experience with BSA?
That's the one I had on my hmr. Got a sweet 22 on a couple of others as well and really like them. You can catch them for like $60 bucks for the 3-9 version.

I have had good luck with the Mueller APV and APT line of scopes as well and they will not break the bank. I haven't looked in a while but they use to get great reviews off rimfire central as well.

I have the Mueller APV 4-16x on my CZ455 22lr and it does very well for the 100 yard range I shoot at. Push it out 200 yards during heat/humidity and the glass quality shows its price point. Mirage affect can be seen. I found it to be a nice scope compared to lower end glass by better known manufacturers such as Nikon, BSA, and Redfield under $175.00.

I've got a Millett 4-16x50 on mine. It was the cheapest mil/mil/side focus setup I could find. That said, the turrets are really crummy and I don't dial it at all, just use holdovers and the side focus. For that it's fine, the glass is good enough for 200-300 yard stuff. Dialed back to 4 power it's actually pretty clear. Been banging around on the rifle for a while now.

EDIT: just looked it up, it's the TRS1 and it's now a $300 optic. I paid $209.99 on sale at Midway. Progress.

BSA Sweet 22 here also. I like mine. I've ordered from swfa.com before and been very pleased..........like BOG said....you can find them cheaper at times but this one is priced at 139 bucks.

And add the Butler Creek lens cap kit for 15 bucks when you place the order

Your mileage may differ and probably will, however I'm going to openly share the following for everyone's benefit,
I also owned a Millett ~ Bushnell and like all optics when I get them, inspect them.
When my TRS-1 arrived I did notice slight movement ( lateral ) in the eye piece, ok np.

Running 22LR or 17 probably won't matter, BUT after 30 ~ 40 rds of 308 under it the Damn eye piece got Looser and started making a noise. This does certainly matter because when any eye piece moves , so does the position of the reticle. So I go from shooting semi-good groups to Shot-Gun Patterns.

I contacted Millett and explained, they ( seemed to ) discounted what I shared with them and I was told that even though I just bought the scope warranty was 4 to 6 weeks to look at it , after it arrived.

I took a video of the problem and submitted it and eventually received a refund. I did ask them how this scope made it through "Quality Control ."
I liked the scope but I'm not waiting 4 to 6 weeks for them to look at it.

If interested, attached is a zipped Mp4 of it and plays with VLC Media player.

Safe Shooting

Could always keep an eye out for a used quality scope that's being sold in your price range. Sure you can get away with not spending big bucks on a rimfire optic, but if better can be had for the same $$ why bother.

Hello! I recommend atn x-sight II hd 3-14x . Perhaps this is exactly what you need. I will be very happy if my advice is helpful.
