Usually I load heavy bullet 357mag with h110 or 300mp, but I am out of spm primers. Still have h110, but it's too inconsistent with spp.
Looking for some data using the other powders I have, namely Universal, red dot, and power pistol. All the data I have for those is up to 158gr bullets. The MP drops them at 189gr.
Anyone have any good data for heavies with these powders?

Its not what you may have asked for, but if you happen to have small rifle primers you arent using, perhaps they could do what your magnum primers did for you.

Ive got CCI 400's that ive been using for such applications. They seem to work well.

I only use small rifle primers for this application. The only SPPs I use are for 38 Special and only Unique loading. IMO Unique does not like hot primers. Mixed 357 cases, SRP (W) 15 H110 is a MOA load for me. I have tested this boolit extensively and brought it out of retirement a couple times for Group Buys. It shot so accurately I asked the designer (Larsen) to apply the same concept to 44 Magnum. It worked great as well.

My load is on the cover of the group buy. All those loads from the bottom to the top shot so well I needed a higher power scope to see which performed best. All were at or near MOA.

Data is for the Missouri Bullet Conpany 180 pugnose from a time when I didn’t cast regularly. Work up to the Unique load. I would start at 4.5. My load is max and only for pistols. Builds too much pressure in rifle.

I don't have srp either. I know they are the same as spm, but I don't own any rifles,so have never stocked them.
I specifically asked if anyone had tried those powders because they are all I have stocked up for standard primers.

Universal and Unique are close to each other on the burn rate chart. I’m sure it will get you some good accuracy from 4ish grains and max at 6.

300 MP does not require magnum primers, if that helps. It is one of my favorite powders for 357mag in my lever action rifle.

I managed to find a cowboy load from Oregon Trail listing Universal at 4.0gr for their 180fp. I can work up from there. Just have to take it slow.
I'll be glad when these panic shortages are over. I'm stocking up and keeping it that way.

Using a heavy crimp will help with ignition when using standard pistol primers .

I use CCI 450 primers with all my heavy 357 loads. They were all I had during the last ammo crunch, so I worked up loads with them, and found heavy loads were more consistent with the small rifle magnum rifle primers.

What is the design # in 44? I am loving it in the mag and the 360DW so far. With the penta pin, it should be a good hunter in the 44.

Will probably be one of the most accurate 44 molds out. I think the 300 grain version will be even better. More bearing surface.
