Here we go again ...

I'm getting an alert on the video player in that link. Here it is on Youtube:

ETA: That is one determined MFer. Lot of fight in that guy.

On a second thought if they had been city kitties guy wouldn’t have survived that long be troopers they showed restraint actually to much restraint. I respect them for the restraint instead of being so scared they couldn’t function properly with clarity of mind.

Am I a bad man for laughing along with the buzzing and wailing from the Taser?
Best I can tell, the PA troopers were using Sig .45's from Glock .45's since 2014.
I was hoping to poke the bitty 9mm crew ;)
They changed to Sigs due to a supposed ND where an officer headshot his pregnant wife, "It should be a no-brainer to clear the pistol first, and even then, to ensure it’s pointed in absolutely safe direction before pulling the trigger. Unfortunately, that hasn’t always been the case with PSP troopers. It is, in fact, a very hard behavior to enforce on a large and diverse population."
Yay diversity!!! Instead of picking the BEST, regardless of race or gender.

Wow, that was rough. Lots to learn though.

Don't understand why shorter officer pulled taser given the thickness of the garments the man was wearing.
Big officer pulled bad guy out of the highway fast, perhaps he should have put him in custody or maybe this
was training and or you got to handle it sooner or later yourself?
Glad they both lived, could not do that job, I'd end up dead I'm too nice.

I couldn’t do it cause I shoot everyone of those sorry suckers.

When I watched the video, I was surprised none of them got hit by oncoming traffic.

The troopers were justified in escalating their use of force much sooner than they did. These situations can change in a heart beat so I am not saying they did anything wrong but the choice to continue the taser option once he got up and away nearly cost them their lives.

Perhaps vaping?

I didn’t see smoke, I saw glass fragmenting/exploding from the exchange of gunfire

Maybe y’all can help me with this: the gun that the cop cleared and tossed...was that a gun the suspect pulled AFTER being searched? Or was that a primary or secondary pistol he took off an officer? Where did the suspect get the gun he returned fire with? Was it a gun he had on him or in his vehicle?

Yes, at 1:26 bad guy runs to driver door, reached inside and appears to pull out a small handgun.
He empties it, then tosses it into the car and gets inside, I believe he had another semi auto,
larger officer could have taken low shot at ankles he was down low,
at 1:44 you see passenger glass and rounds hit guardrail as big officer rolls over rail.
I think he was hit earlier, he is firing it out the back window at 1.:50.

Looks like driver has gun on him and was loose after getting Taser,
smaller cop should have kicked it under his patrol car faster then clearing it.
Should have deploy Taser to the leg of bad guy. Two Tasers at once will hurt.
Wonder if bad guy was on some drug.

Both men too close to each other, should have had service weapons low ready, he was not going to
drive off by reaching into the car. Both men very lucky to have lived.

This should be made into a training video with analysis from both troopers.

Really looked like he got it from inside the vehicle. The gun on the ground looks like it fell out of his sock. Hard to fault the officer for disengaging to clear the loose weapon, but in hindsight kicking it across the road would have likely resulted in a better outcome.

The article reads that the Trooper backup gun was on the ground and was made safe,
bad guy managed to release the magazine from other trooper holstered gun.
The shootout was approx 41 seconds. Trooper was shot in leg, hit femoral artery.

Prosecutors said the video depicted the two troopers acting professionally and with restraint during a speeding stop Nov. 7 that unexpectedly turned violent.
Defense attorney Janet Jackson unsuccessfully argued self-defense, describing
Clary as a scared young man who was getting his first speeding ticket,
then was surprised when police moved to handcuff him.

SURE JAN!

People like Jan should be under lock and key. That’s the mentality these days and these people liars / lawyers and there are some descent lawyers that want to go about and protect/defend them for a buck I don’t know how they can live with their conscience.

I’m so tired of the bs.

The guy was the problem in this story, not the cops but coddling a certain segment of society is the only acceptable form of engagement.

I missed where anyone said why he was being cuffed. Audio said that he was doing 87, presumably in a 55 or 70, and I couldn’t tell from the field sobriety test if he was passing or failing because they cut the clip.

On the one hand, I lean very heavily towards compliance with officer requests on the side of the road, on the other their requests/commands must to lawful.

The big cop should’ve rolled closer to the car or gone over the rail way sooner. Yes, I know that’s armchair QBing.

Article has details, he got ticket and was FTG, but he called Trooper back, who then gets him out and calls for 2nd Trooper for Dui testing.

Defense lawyer dud not use discovery to her advantage,
tried to play the wrong card, should have negiotated plea deal instead of trial.

41 seconds to live or die. He was free to go but had other plans. Dumb.

Even if the client is a complete scumbag they are still entitled to the best representation that their lawyer can provide as a matter of duty on the part of their lawyer.

I wonder if the larger Trp with stripes was shadowing the other, presumably new, officer. It struck me as the senior officer was disengaged during the stop until he went to cuff him. Posture, etc. That was one point, the second point was it looked like a goat roping. Makes me think that they don't work together very often, lack of communication between the two. Combined with the fact the (presumably) new guy was probably scared poopless and wasn't prepared for when the taser didn't work.

no battle plan survives the first shot fired.

I was thinking along similar lines. Either the smaller trooper was new, timid, or simply didn’t know what the other was going to do. The two were very uncoordinated, so much so that the smaller could have easily shot the larger trooper as the BG pulled the pistol from his car.
Definitely a good training video IMO.
