Today I went to get my pre-op work did for my surgery next Thursday. I picked up a 5 gallon water bottle at work and felt a pop behind my belly button. No pain, just felt strange. Then, my belly button started "filling in" and would pop out when I cough. Went to the Dr and he confirmed that it was a hernia.
Thursday the 13th he's going to poke holes in me and turn a robot loose on me. He says he can fix me up as good as new. I'm going to ask if he can liposuction some of this gut fat out while he's in there.

I just had an inguinal repair done 3 1/2 weeks ago. Plan on resting for the first week.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I had an inguinal repaired 42 years ago. I don't remember it.

Happened to me. I let it go too long, i only procrastinated ohh 6-7 years. Then one day the dam burst and i got to have emergency surgery! So far i have held up pretty good. My oldest boy also had a hernia repaired at 25, so it might be bad genes. Good luck. I asked the doc to take out some fat too, but I was still fat when i got out. I hope you fare better!

I had a hernia repair in around 1964. They used to leave a helluva scar.
I understand they just poke the holes in you now.

I totally misread this as Hentai Repair and I was really curious what that was.

That's cutting it kind of close for send-off day isn't it? Will we have to wheel you around in a chair all morning? Will you be able to fire a gun? LOL.

Two weeks later, I should be OK by then. And, besides, I thought all of you were doing the firing.

I had a belly button hernia fixed about 10yrs ago. For about 6 weeks it seemed like every single muscle in my body was attached to my belly button.

Had a coworker have the surgery on Friday and came back on Monday. About 3 months later he said it was to soon to come back and he was in a fair amount of pain.

I know I've been to Billy's a few times and not shot a single round, but really.....you got to shoot some!

I was planning to shoot 2 guns, but I think I was told not to do that. I thought a 1911 in each hand would be great, but......oh well.
Anyway I hope all your junk gets fixed up right! Heal up fast.

Doc says he doesn't want me to do much for a couple of days. He says he's keeping me out of work for 2 weeks. I've already made a few practice runs getting in and out of the recliner. I won't be using my recliner.

Lay in the bed.....roll/scoot/slide to the edge of the bed and let one leg drop to the floor. Gently as possible... push up with your hands to stand up. Do anything you can think of to prevent sneezing or coughing for 2 weeks or so. If you sneeze within the first 5 days or so....it will be painful.

If you share your pain meds, I'll take some vacation and we can hang out at the beach. I'll do the driving, but will not be changing any bandages below the waist. If you can't sit comfortable in my truck, we will put you a recliner in the back and we can ride around like the Beverly Hillbillies. We would have to go by and pick up Billy though. Wouldn't be right to leave him out.

    No doubt.

Laying down was fine. Standing was fine. Moving from one to the other was not!! And heaven forbid I had to sneeze.

Had the same done summer before last. Just take it easy the first couple weeks & take the stool softener as directed. You'll need it, with the pain pills.

A diet of only refried beans and prunes will make certain you don’t sneeze or cough. ;)

You’ll be out of commission for a short time? I guess that means there’ll be a glut of used Glocks available in Conway area stores. :D

Go ahead and get the fiber pills. You don’t want any strain. And if you don’t have a chair height toilet, get the riser. No sense in sitting down that far either.

I had a double hernia at 4 in 1970, two of my sons had hernias in their early teens.
    Don’t get the mesh repair.

I thought so, there wasn't a mesh option in’70, one of my son’s had to go back a few years later due to the mesh failure.

BTW, What are you doing up at this hour?

I am always up at 4 am.
Two years again I was diagnosed T2 diabetic with an A1C of 13 and 250 lbs. I started eating different and getting up to “work out” (either walk or ride a stationary bike) every morning. Within 6 months I was off the insulin and now I am off all medication. Just diet and exercise now. A1C stays under 6.0 and my weight is down to 175. Other than the hernia repair and my narrow discs in my spine I have been much healthier because of it.

I just had the mesh repair done through VA and was told that was the only way they repair them now so it was the only option. Hopefully I won’t need to call one of those infomercial lawyers I see when I am up having my coffee at 4am. ;)
