We took the scouts out the Harper's creek for a hike and camp weekend.

Decided instead of being my normal gear whore self I'd try and make it an ultralight trip (thank God I did).

Just under 13 pounds loaded out.

(Sorry about the toes)

We got there late Friday night (par for the course for us - lol) set up camp and sacked out pretty quick. Next day the hike began.

Next stop another falls. This time though it was after getting split up for about an hour and finally getting everyone back together. We got split up thanks to getting swarmed by yellow jackets. Not just a few either and absolute swarm of the little demons. Almost everyone got stung but @HK_fanboy 's boy got over 25 as with mine. They're were tore up, but thankfully nobody was allergic. Benadryl for everyone! Yeah...

Last night needed water and everyone was pretty whipped and let's not forget the dose of benadryl earlier. Lol

Apparently my pics of camp and the hike out didn't make the phone swap after this trip :(

Maybe @HK_fanboy can add some of his.

Get with it and post some pics already.

Pics are too big. Just going to wait til the switchover is done.

Wilson is in my back yard. I'm up there quite a bit. I've done everything from hike it to horseback ride to fly fish to motorcycle to Jeeps in Wilson/Brown Mt area.

Did you encounter any yellow jackets on that trip?

Just a few...

You know you could go say hi to everyone - then they wouldn't think you're a stalker!

LMAO

Who's to say I'm not stalking?
Oh no. I know you're a stalker. I was saying others MAY not think you're a stalker if you went and made an intro.

Lol just found a pic of the minions toe from our second stop. He's a trooper though and finished the last 6 miles with some moleskin and never even mentioned it. This is it after about 5 days, it was huge.

Hey @chiefjason finally found most of the pics.

Good pics. We hiked down to the second falls in your pics a few years back. I had to carry my wife across the creek crossing, kids too. Caught a couple trout and a ton of crayfish in there.

Definitely LOTS of water crossings. I manage to only get one foot wet the entire time but it did make the trip a little more interesting.

@HK_fanboy on the other hand damn near went swimming half the time. Lol

Man, the water through there is moving today! No fishing for a while at Wilson!

Can you guys that are familiar with the area fill me in a bit on the logistics of this trip? I'm planning to go camping next month and I'm thinking this might be a good option. Things like where do you enter at and exit? Can you camp anywhere along the trail? Is the creek suitable (deep enough) to swim in? It's going to be hot. Is there a map of the trails available?

If you have an REI nearby they will have maps, but I've really been liking an app called back country navigator but I always carry my Garmin earthmate as well. It has a SPS and text features to keep everyone up to date an where we're at.
