Hill People Gear Kit Bag

Any experience running with any of these bags? I’m a trail runner, mountain biker and hiker... hoping these live up to their claims for active sports!

I run with the runners kit bag all the time. The additional harness will even hold a water bladder. I like it much better than a running vest.

I mountain bike with a recon. It works well. My main gripe is that it can be hot to run with in the summer. Kinda like running with a backpack. But I don’t mind it when biking and it’s actually more convenient because I can get to it without having to take it off like a backpack.

I’ve had good luck using the Heavy Recon for fishing. Big enough to hold the essentials, but small enough to keep me from taking the kitchen sink.

HPG kit bags that I’d consider are sold out in every color!

Finally gave mine a shakedown on two hikes in South Mountains over the weekend. The first day, I wore just the kit bag with my P01, a spare mag, wallet, phone, keys, etc in it. Wasn’t bad at all, but I did notice that I could feel the extra weight in front on the uphills (which are frequent there). We went back two days later and I wore it again, but had a USMC ILBE assault pack with a 100 oz camel back in it. Having weight on my back balanced out the kit bag such that I didn’t feel it there.

I have a lot of work to do to get it “just right,” but I do think this is going to be how I carry on the trail from now on. I also found that once off the trail, it was easy to swing it on to my shoulder to walk into a store or what not, if I didn’t want to put it on my chest for the 2 minutes it takes to get a drink or some such.

I went for a run on the same trail where a dog bit me recently... this time I had my HPG bag and “accessories”. Bounces a bit, but I get used to it. Would probably be better with the bungee strap, but that was sold out and I’m too cheap to pay for a bungee cord with a couple clips on it!

(Accessories = G27, spare mag, fixed blade, wallet, phone and keys)
