Surprised you haven’t gotten an HOA notice about the moss growing on the mailbox. Course you’re close enough to Asheville for that moss to be considered hippie armpit hair

Could have just paid a homeless guy to sit there with his mouth open.
Give @Tim the number to the guy that put your swing set together

Looks like it’s time for some concrete. I know, that’s controversial.

After our mailbox got baseball batted, we bought some that are supposed to be impervious to It. So far we have been lucky.

Oh, so as I said to my insurance company after backing into a vehicle,it was my own damned fault. They asked if i filled a police report, and I said. “no, I didn’t see how it was in my interest to do so”. The other involved party was like, meh no damage, have a good evening.

Kid loses ride for a long while. They get brighter once they realize there are consequence. Even to minor bs like that.
He’s just on a learner’s permit, or whatever they call it here. I ain’t mad at him, he’s hard enough enough on himself.

When you get back and fix it, let him help by running the post hole digger.

Live and learn.

And now he gets to learn how to install a mailbox! Important life lesson. It'll surely be a joke in a few years. I did a doughnut and hit my highschools sign. For about a year my mom would warn me "there's a build board over there watch out" "neighbors house is for sale don't hit the realtor sign"

Tell them you're just waiting for the cement to set.

Our state road mowing huys nailed mine. (And many others regularly.) It was set in cement with rebar. The cement base held but it twisted the post until it almost broke off. But, it's hanging by shreds. One of my future projects. Number 796 I think.

some people don't concrete mailbox posts?
it's all sand here. if you don't concrete it, it's not going to stand for long. even if you do, your odds are kind of hit or miss. I got one post that's firm and one that's wobbly.

First time I drove on ice as a teen, I went around a curve and slid into this guys mailbox just about half a mile from home. Had to wake the guy up and tell him I hit his mailbox, then I had to call dad and tell HIM I hit a mailbox. He was never very forgiving in instances like that. But I learned how to put up a mailbox at 17, and the guys mailbox I ran over and I are friends now 20 some years later

I hit a mailbox the day I bought my first truck. Didn't even notice I backed into it. Dumb highschool kids make mistakes, fix it and move on.

Mailboxes aren't supposed to be set in concrete. From the postal service perspective it's better when a car hits one to wreck the mailbox than the car. Something about people in the car matter more than a mailbox, I think.

People building the house across the street knocked mine over twice with their trailers. The strap has lasted about five years. A new post and mailbox are on my list of things to buy one of these days. Somehow temporary measures occasionally become somewhat permanent.

Our mailbox gets ran over on a regular basis! It’s in a curve that a lot of cars miss and end up in my nephews yard. There’s a string of them that a guy took out when he was speeding. His insurance paid the neighbor whose house they are in front of to have them replaced. He kept the money and just stood them back up on a wobbly couple of boards. I know I’m not wasting my time and money to fix them and when the fall down, I’ll move mine to a different place.
