Hog huntin

Shot three yesterday and one so far today . Took a break to eat a bite now goin back and try to shoot some more . Oh yeah , these hogs dig holes in the ground .

For a moment, I conflated this post and the "Morris Family BBQ" -- it was cartoon hilarity to put the Coyote and Roadrunner to shame!

Just a case of Friday madness --- don't mind me.

Wow, I’m surprised to hear they’re so close. That’s awesome.

This thread has actually been helpful. To make a long story short, the owner of the property we rent gave me go-ahead to shoot a groundhog. Now, I've shot a skunk on the grounds (using a 20-gauge with #2 birdshot), but I still tend to think of ground hogs as, well, cute and furry! Reading this thread might steel me to do my duty -- if the little rodent will only cooperate and hang around in the back where I take a legit shot.

There are 4 more I’m after . They had their heads stuck up bout half way out of the den when “ Big Fat Mama “ came out and laid down for her last sun bath . I’m lettin em rest today and tomorrow. Maybe by Monday they will be a little bit calmer .

We used to go up to VA and shoot them in the cabbage fields. Farmers would pay $5 each for every one you brought them. We set up where we could see down the rows with 223 handy rifles on bipods. A great time was had by all....well except the ground hogs.

I’d like to get in on something like that . I have been looking for a bolt action 223 . I have a 223 WSSM that I deer hunt with . Mite be a little overkill for ground hogs.

Once you shoot a couple and look at em up close the cute part goes away . Make sure they are dead before you pick one up .

Settin here in my blind watching 3 uv them pigs out for a Sunday picnic . Told myself I would give them 2 days to calm down . They shore are tryin my patience . My blind is a white Chevy truck and my camo is light tan pants and a bright red shirt .

I just shot numbers 9 and 10 off this hillside . Number 10 is the smallest one I have ever shot . It’s body is 9 1/2 inches long . Like sweetie said , “ Big or small they gotta go “ .
