So I did a bit of searching on the forum and couldn’t find what I was looking for in regards to a home gas tank/pump system...I likely missed something so sorry if this is a repeat. I’d like some ideas on what others are doing for gas storage.

What I am interested in is the following:

- Home gas tank with pump (hand or electric)
- 20 to 40 gallons max
- Moveable (on wheels, I have a concrete floored shop/garage attached to my concrete driveway so I can easily move it around)
- Don’t want to have to gravity feed it (put it up high)
- To be stored in the shop (walled and protected but not heated/cooled)
- Under $400
- Will be used to fill lawnmower/toys, smaller containers for generator, top off vehicles to rotate gas
- Will be refilled by 5 gallon cans as needed (don’t plan on hauling this on a truck/trailer to the station too much)

I’ve been looking at these setups as they “seem” to fit all of my wants, but they only average around 3 stars in reviews, mainly due to cheap pumps (failures) and odd thread sizes (mostly metric) for pump replacements. Are these worth it? Any suggestions on brands?

I’ve been doing the 5 gallon container thing and Florence has finally made me want something a bit easier for storage and dispensing.

What are you currently doing?

I have these, but you done poo pooed on them.

I'm thinking a couple of those with an aux pump are gonna work well for me without breaking the bank.

That's not a horrible idea. I would like to see what you come up with.

How about a 55 gallon drum that you put a universal 12VDC pump on? I’ve used that setup here on the farm with some success. Less than 50 bucks too if you use on of the fifteen dollar universal electric gas pumps.

You’ll want to keep it totally sealed when not in use so as to prevent condensation from developing inside the drum (and to prevent fumes).

This is about the best compromise between fuel delivery and price:

Or you can go all out and have an actual pump and nozzle like this one for about $160.00

Think about how you are going to fill your setup. You do not want fuel sitting around more than a couple months so rotating it is pretty much a given. Remember 1 gallon of fuel weighs about 6 lbs plus the weight of the container. Something like kcult’s setup is pretty easy to take to the gas station and fill them off load when you get home. Back when we were racing we’d break down our big 55 gallon drums into 5 gallon dump cans because moving that drum even with a dolly sucked.
