So let's say you picked up a different kind of SD ammo, or some new SD magazines. How much testing do you do to verify everything cycles and feeds as intended?

I recently picked up some soft point .223 intend to replace the FMJ's, and it got me thinking. I've always tried to function check new items, but wanted some perspective on the matter. Thanks in advance!

Ammo, same as the other guys.

Mags, if a brand without much history leave loaded overnight/wknd/week and probably five or six runs through the gun without issue at least one after leaving loaded would have me fairly confident.

40 rounds of soft points ran as expected, and I feel comfortable with them.

Only time I had an issue with something was a new LC9 magazine... It fed ammo fine, but the magazine disconnect was not kept consistently happy.

What was the issue?

Not exactly sure.. must have been related to how the magazine disengaged the disconnect because the original magazine worked fine, as did the replacement one Ruger sent. I'm not a huge fan of those disconnects, and had the gun smith remove one on a used M&P he transferred for me.
