Shot my can for the first time, mounted on a 3 lug adapter the other day. How do you guys secure your muzzle devices to keep it from unscrewing? I was thinking of maybe adding a crush washer, good idea?

Crush washer is a bad idea for suppressors. They do not crush evenly and can lead to baffle strikes.

Best solution is to use a peel washer or shims for a muzzle device that needs to be timed. Add rockset or another type of thread locker if needed.

The problem with locktite type stuff is you're generating a lot of heat and it melts. Rockset isn't broken down with heat like the locktite stuff is so it stays put better.

I knew I read that crush washer may cause misalignment. The 3 lug adapter I have can be best described at a thread protector with the 3 lugs sticking out the side. It only covers the barrel threads or just slightly longer which is why I was considering a crush washer. Timing isn't an issue so there are no shims.

Just spent 30 minutes with Google reading about red locktite vs Rocksett and how to remove muzzle devices set with both. There's all sorts of advice about heat, hammers, water, vices, and broken this or that. But most importantly I learned that red locktite is only good to 500 degrees, and I'm almost positive my suppressor gets beyond that frequently. Rocksett it will be at my next opportunity.

To breakdown the rockset, soak it in water - easy (easy that is after you read the directions instead of fighting the crap for 30 minutes and losing)

In that case I would skip the washers or shims. Just use Rockset and tighten it down.

Griffin Armament recommended red loctite. I've used that on all muzzle devices, 5,56 and 7.62 with no issues

Just paint "Benghazi" on it and it will stay screwed forever.

Never used anything on any of my rifle QD mounts, and never had one loosen. YHM doesn't even recommend using any thread locker of any kind. Just torque them down.

Are you shooting full auto? My MP5SD can gets pretty hot when shooting long bursts but I don't think that the mounting piece has reached 500F.

No not full auto just an occasional mag dump. 500 ain't that hot so I just assumed it could get there.

Video of a suppressor temp reaching >800f shooting semi-auto...

Torqued to spec and you shouldn't have a problem. Left hand threads are the only ones I have used red loctite on.
