How to Reduce Your Risk of Death by Gun Violence

I would add: Do what the officer tells you, when he or she tells you.

Geeze, gimme me a break.... and always wear clean underwear in case you're in an accident and have to go to the hospital....

I took it as a “No S, Sherlock” article, reaffirming what the absolute vast majority of us already know. Yet somehow, the usual suspects are always involved with violence, and the liberal suspects are always flabbergasted about it, Unwilling to blame an individual and always society or an inanimate object

If we are cutting all your clothing off, You have a lot more blood, and crap, and holes, and broken stuff, poking out... for me to spend 1 sec worrying about your underwear. If you think a lil dookie stain is bad, wait to you see what I will do to your neck if you aren't breathing well due to trauma. THAT is something we will talk about for awhile. :)

Hundreds of millions died in the 20th century following this particular bad advice.
Ehh, maybe tens of millions, maybe a hundred million and change, but I doubt hundreds of millions. Now if you only count LEOs in America I think you’ll agree that the number is meaningfully lower. In fact I’m sure you’ll agree that were you to study LEO shootings in America you would find that a person confronted by a LEO with a drawn weapon is less likely to be shot if complying than if not.

Not saying that this “bad” advice will be what I suggest forever and everywhere, and I will confess that I have been noncompliant at some times in some places, but it is generally good advice in America at this time. Don’t you agree?

I only take issue with #2. People drive like idiots because there is no social stigma, all the others cower. If every single time some idiot did something stupid with a car that put other innocent lives in danger immediately heard thirty horns blaring and saw twenty middle fingers sticking up, not only would they not dare to escalate, they might be intimidated into changing the way they drive.

No, I don't agree. Overreach and official abuse has to be stopped in its infancy, when it's not a huge problem, such that it doesn't become normal behavior.

Multiple studies have shown at least 40% of LE households experience domestic violence.....4 times the incidence rate in the general population. Almost half.

If that's the way they're treating their spouses, how do you suppose that translates into the street with Joe Blow Citizen?

A population of sheep that meekly does the bidding of the wolves finds itself the victims all too often in the course of human events.

Your advice, taken literally, is Comply, or Die.

Doesn't much sound like a just, moral, or free society to me.

This is a combination of poor reading comprehension, poor reasoning, and trolling.

Have a good evening.

Not a bad article at all. Most of us probably already practice all these.

Not to try to start an argument, but I must comment on the idea of being resistive to the police during an official encounter. True that some officers look at everyone out of uniform as potential enemies. If your pulled, don't give them reason to encourage that belief. If you are abused and resist it will escalate with popo getting help. You won't. Cooperate and deal with it later.

The idea that you can't ever resist the law is not what I'm espousing. If, let's say, your awaken in the middle of the night by flashing lights in your front yard and a demand to allow your home to be searched for weapons, and you've done nothing wrong but the laws have been changed under your very feet, therfore making you a criminal, well, that's a different story and a time I hope we never come to.

So, save the animosity for popo until it will mean something other than getting beat down on the side of the road.

As always, this advice is worth exactly what you paid for it!
